BBC Chat

BBC Host:Hello, and welcome to today’s live chat with "Girl Thing". Jodi, Anika, Nicki, Linzi and Michelle are ready to start answering your questions. Here’s the first question.

How long did it take you to write 'Last One Standing' and what was the inspiration for the lyrics?

Linzi: Basically it was about fun. It took about a day. It was really cool doing the song, it explains what we are about, it explains our characters to everyone.

One of you has really wild and wacky pink hair! What inspired you to go for this great colour ?

Michelle: It was an idea given by my manager. I have always played around with lacquer and things and so tried it out and thought, yep, this is good, and I stuck to it.

Hi, who are your idols?

Nikki: "Madonna", for creating the image of being able to wear what you want and being what you want. I also love "Shania Twain".

Jodi: "Celine Dion" and "Michael Jackson".

Anika: It has to be my mum.

Linzi: "Maria Carey" and "Boys To Men" - because I like soul music.

Michelle: I love Jon Bon Jovi, I saw him on a show last night and he was really, really gorgeous.

Who is the youngest one?

Jodi: I'm the youngest, I'm 16 yrs old but I am not a baby!

Michelle, where did you get the t-shirt you wore in the video for 'Last one standing'?

Michelle: I actually got it in Apple Tree in Covent Garden. Nikki spotted it. It was just after I had had my hair dyed and we thought it would go well with the colour.

Which country would you most like to visit?

All: Italy - Rome and do all the shops. America is also great and Hawaii and Singapore (Michelle).

What advice would you give other people on becoming singers?

Linzi: I would say if you are willing to take it seriously, get a singing tutor. You have to do everything, lots of practising and lots of auditions. When you go to auditions the best thing to do is just enjoy yourself. If you are seen to be enjoying yourself and having fun, people will warm to you. Don't just stand there, give it all you've got.

Which famous people did you fancy when you were younger?

Nikki: "Brad Pitt", he's really fit.

Jodi: "Holby" out of "Baywatch". I used to fancy him when I was young.

Linzi: Joe MacIntyre.

Michelle: Jason Priestly and Luke Perry!

How did you get the name "Girl Thing". Who thought of it?

Jodi: The way it came about was that we didn't have a name but people kept calling us "that kind of girl thing", so we thought it sounded good and decided to stick to it.

How old are you all?

Nikki: 20 yrs old.

Michelle: 21 yrs old.

Anika : 18 yrs, almost 19yrs.
