ship of dreams Ch11-12

Ch. 11 About an hour later, everyone met up in the captain's chambers. "So, did you find Nick or Amy?" Jessie asked. A.J. gave a smirk. "If we did, don't you think they'd be with us?" he joked. Jessie rolled her eyes at him. "So what did you find out?" the captain asked. "No one is hurt but there is a huge hole in the side of the ship, causing a little discomfort for the passengers," Matt explained, "Oh, and did I mention, the ship is sinking?" Everyone gasped. "What!?" they exclaimed. "I hope you're joking," Jessie stammered, "And if you are..." He shook his head. Jessie looked at the captain. "You gotta do something cuz I ain't about to drown in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean! This is my vacation, dammit!" The captain placed his hands on her shoulders. "Calm down," he reassured her, "We, unlike Titanic, have enough lifeboats for everybody." He turned to Kevin. "Kevin, that's your name, right?" He nodded. "Good, go round up everyone and get them on the lifeboats. Ryan, help him." "It's Brian," Brian corrected him. The captain waved him off. "Yeah, whatever. You too A.K." "A.J.!" "Yeah. Matt, did I get that right?" Matt nodded. "Good, you and your little smartass girlfriend.." "Hey! I resent that you little.." Jessie started off again. Matt elbowed her. "So what? You two go look for Jamie and Rick.." "It's Amy and Nick!!" everyone corrected him at once. "Yeah, them. Go look for them. Howie, uh, go with them." They started to walk out when Jessie looked back. "Where are the people who are paid for this at?" Before he could answer, Matt snatched her by the arm and jerked her out the door. Nick noticed by the disappearing light under the door crack that it was getting darker outside. At first he thought it was about to storm again but his watch confirmed that it was time for sunset. Amy opened her eyes and looked up, realizing she was laying on his legs. She jumped up, making her head throb as the blood rushed up to it. She grabbed her head and looked at Nick. "About time you woke up. My legs were getting numb." She rubbed her eyes. "Sorry," she apologized, "And so nice to see you too. Where are we?" Nick chuckled slightly. "We are stuck in a closet." Amy looked at him. "And how might that have happened?" "It was a complete lack of judgement," he replied. Amy huffed and looked away. "I get knocked out for God-knows how long and we get locked in a closet. Way to go, Nick. Now, genius, tell us how we are going to get out." He looked up at the swinging light above their head. "I've spent the last 4 hours trying to figure that out. While you were asleep.." Amy gave him a sharp look. "Hey! Don't be bringing this down on my head! It's not MY fault we're locked in this damn closet!" "It was a mistake, Amy! Am I not allowed to do that, make mistakes? So sorry I'm not perfect like you!" Before she could snap back at him, they heard someone running by. "The ship is sinking, the ship is sinking! Everyone evacuate!!" the person yelled. Amy jumped up, banging on the door. No one heard her. The people were gone. She rested her head on the door, her mind racing. She looked down at Nick. "Unfortunately, that was one mistake that you weren't allowed to make." She started crying. He stood up and pulled her to him. She wouldn't let him wrap his arms around her. She couldn't. They were gonna die and it was his fault. "Shh..Amy..we'll get out of here. You're not going to die. I won't let you. Even if it means me drowning instead." Amy's heart melted and the tears poured down her cheeks. Her barrier broke down and she buried her face in his shoulder. He pulled her in tighter and held her, resting his chin on top of her head, his eyes looking around in the dim light to find something to use to get out. He felt her raise her head so he looked down at her, into her watery blue eyes. "Nick, I'm so scared. We're locked in here, no one is around, the ship is sinking...." He reached over and brushed her hair out of her eyes. His tender eyes made her feel slightly better. Even more with the words following it. "Amy, don't worry, I'll take care of you." He wiped her cheeks with the back of his hands and looked back into her eyes. She looked so helpless, so lost. The innocence made the urge to wrap his arms around her and kiss her with all the passion in his heart stronger than ever. She saw this but knew she couldn't possibly comply, it was too soon, and giving someone her heart in one tiny show of emotion was just too much to bear at the moment. Still, there was the ever-growing feeling she had towards Nick tugging at her inside. He leaned down and she froze. She could feel his lips just touching hers when she heard people yelling. She pulled away quickly. "Listen.." she hissed. He heard it too. Someone was yelling their names. They looked at each other. "Start screaming," Nick demanded. They did just that. "Amy!" Jessie yelled. "Nick!" Howie yelled. Matt stopped them. They stopped and looked at him. "Listen.." They could hear someone, more than one person, yelling and banging on the door down at the end of the deck. The only problem was they didn't know which deck. "I think it came from downstairs," Matt said. They ran down, leaving Nick and Amy stranded on the top deck. "They should have heard us by now," Nick said, leaning back against the door. Amy stopped banging and slid to the floor, placing her head in her hands. "Face it, Nick. It's no use. No one's gonna find us. We're gonna.." Nick dropped to his knees and grabbed Amy's arms. "Don't even say it. I'm gonna get us out of here..somehow..." She looked up at him. "Somehow..definitely the words I'm needing to here right about now," she sneered. Nick stood up, looking around in a panic. Amy stood up and banged on the door as hard as she could, kicking it too. Nick stopped and grabbed her, pulling her back. She burst into tears. "Amy..." The look she gave him said it all. "Stop trying to comfort me. This was your damn fault, this was your big mistake. And I have to suffer the consequences of it with you. Thanks, Nick." The words stung him. "Amy, I'm sorry! What else can I say? Abracadabra, open the door? You are making this so much harder on yourself than it really is! We are not going to die! We are on the top deck of the ship! You've seen Titanic, it took six hours for it to completely sink.." "Nick, we've been in here almost five..." Nick's eyes widened as he considered the thought. "Well, that was..umm.." Amy nodded. "So much for that theory, huh? I've got 5 words for that..We are going to die and it's all because of you..so that's eleven..oh well.." The whole situation had finally sunk in. "Any last wishes? Last thoughts? Last prayers?" Amy shook her head. A thought crossed Nick's mind. "I've got one." He grabbed Amy and kissed her. She was shocked but soon found herself returning the kiss. Suddenly, the door opened and there stood Jessie, Matt, and Howie. "There you guys are! We've been--" Their jaws dropped as they saw Nick and Amy break off in mid-kiss with the guiltiest looks on their faces. "Is that everyone?" Kevin asked his cousin who was helping people into the lifeboats. Brian looked up at him and nodded. "Yeah, except for you, me, A.J., Nick, Amy, Matt, Jessie, and Howie." Kevin nodded. "Okay. I've saved 2 boats for us." He turned to he sailors. "That's everyone. Ya'll can go." Brian looked from A.J. to Kevin. "You know, maybe we should go with them to help them find a place to stay when they reach the island." The ship was sinking faster and faster as it kept filling up with water. A.J. and Kevin got in one of the lifeboats. "We'll go," they volunteered. "Stay here and wait for Nick, Amy, Jessie, Matt, and Howie," Kevin instructed him. Brian nodded and lowered their boat till it splashed gently into the water. He watched them float off towards the shore. He was all alone. He turned to look for the rest of the group. "Where are they?" he wondered out loud. He heard the captain run up and watched as he climbed into the lifeboat. Brian stopped him from lowering it. "What the hell are you doing? My fri--" "Son, you've got to get off of this ship." Brian shook his head. "No sir, I can't. My friends aren't here yet and I'm not leaving them behind." The captain shrugged his shoulders and started lowering the boat again. "Okay, then. I won't beg you but you gotta wonder what's more important: your life or theirs. Suit yourself." He lowered down onto the water in the very last lifeboat. They now had no way off the ship. Amy and Nick jumped back away from each other, both muttering something. Their faces matched at the deepest shade of red. "Do you realize that we have been looking for the two of you for the last four hours?" Jessie snapped, "While the two of you have been making out..." She stopped, laughing unbelievably at what she has just said. "I have been worried sick about you!" "Oh, Jess," Amy said, pretending to cry, "I never knew you cared." Jessie rolled her eyes. They heard someone yelling and turned to see Brian running up the deck towards them. Brian saw Nick and Amy standing there. "Where have you guys been?" Before either could tell him, Jessie spoke up. "Making out in the storage closet." Brian's jaw dropped but he soon recovered from the shock. "Anyways, the captain just left us with the only boat we had left!" Matt looked at him in disbelief. "Now, why in the hell would he do that?" he shrieked. Brian shook his head. "I don't know, but we've gotta find a way off of here." Howie looked around and down at the rising water. "How 'bout jumping?" Nick finally looked up. "Are you crazy? We'd be killed if we jumped from up here!" Amy looked at him and back at Brian. "Howie may have a good idea. If we go to the the deck closest to the water and jump in, it won't be as far down especially with the way this ship is sinking." Everyone exchanged approving glances. "Well, then," Brian said, "Let's go." Nick looked at Amy. "Are you sure you're up to it?" he asked. Before she could answer, Jessie quipped: "I'd be tired too after all that making out." Nick scowled at her. "No, retard. She hit her head on the wall and blacked out when a wave hit the ship earlier." Matt looked at her in concern. "Are you okay?" Amy nodded. "I still have a slight headache but I think I'll be fine for right now." Howie nodded. "All right, now that that's settled, can we go?" They nodded and started running off. Amy ran off with Jessie and Matt, leaving Nick with Brian and Howie. Nick looked at them. Brian gave him a grin. "Don't worry, Nick. Well, at least for now. Save your little story for when everyone's here and we have time to listen." He patted Nick on the back and they walked down the deck. The boats washed ashore and everyone got out. A.J. walked up the beach. "Great," he muttered, "It's night, we're shipwrecked, and we have nowhere to stay." "Umm..excuse me," a short dark girl interrupted. A.J. turned around. "Yes?" he asked. "I overheard you saying that you needed somewhere for the people to stay. Well, I know just the place. Follow me." A.J. pointed back at the people. "But the people.." The tiny girl smiled. "Will be just fine until you get back. Your friend will help them." She grabbed his hand and led him to a clearing in the wooden coastline. Beyond the clearing stood about five or six huge hotels and a long row of condos. A.J.'s jaw dropped as he noticed this was all in this good size town. "What the...?" he gasped,"How did this get here? This a deserted island." The girl laughed slightly. "Ha! Deserted island my butt! My guess was that it was built. Welcome to the Bahamas, hon." He looked around, still in awe. "Oh." She smiled at him. "Well, are you gonna stand there or are you gonna help those people you were so worried about leaving?" He looked at her and they turned around and ran back to the beach. A.J. grabbed a flashlight off the boat and turned it on. He flashed it on everybody to get their attention. "LISTEN EVERYBODY!" he yelled, "WE HAVE FOUND A PLACE FOR YA'LL TO STAY IF YOU WILL JUST FOLLOW ME!!" The people followed him and the girl. Kevin ran up to him, ignoring the girl. "You found a place?" he asked. "Correction," he said,"She did." "Who?" Kevin asked. He looked beside A.J. to see the girl. She smiled shyly at him. He stuck out his hand. "Thanks a lot," he thanked her slowly. She smiled and she shook his hand. "I can speak English, you know. How do you think I talked to him?" He blushed. "You're welcome though." "Sorry," he apologized. She smiled at him. "It's okay. My name is Kelly." "Kevin." "A.J." I know, she was thinking. She led them to the clearing and he saw the hotels, condos, and town. "What...?" he began. A.J. and Kelly smiled at each other and looked at Kevin. "Welcome to the Bahamas." They laughed at Kevin's face. They led the people into one of the hotels and helped everybody in. Kevin, A.J., and Kelly walked up to the desk. "Got room for about 7,000 people?" A.J. asked. The receptionist looked at him in shock. "How many?" she asked. "Does we really need to repeat ourselves?" Kelly snapped. "You heard them," Kevin said, "Now, can you help us?" She started typing on the computer. "Um, hold on." A.J. leaned on the desk. "Fine." The woman ran off. A.J. laid his head down on the desk. Kevin leaned on it backwards next to him. "I wonder how the search is going." They saw someone run in. It was the captain. A.J. looked up just in time to see him. He pointed to him. "Wait. How did he get here? There was only one boat. That means.." "They're here. Stay here. I'll be right back." He ran over to the captain. A.J. looked over there and saw Kevin's facial expression change to a look of horror. Kevin, red-faced, stalked back over to A.J. "What's wrong?" Kevin glared back at the captain before looking at A.J. "You are not gonna believe this. They are still on that ship." A.J.'s jaw slacked. "What the hell? What are they gonna do?" Just then they heard the door open and people gasping. A.J., Kelly, and Kevin gasped as well at the sight.

Ch. 12 "Oh, my gosh," Kelly gasped, "Look." There stood a very soaking wet Nick, Brian, Amy, Howie, Jessie, and Matt. The manager ran over to them. "You're getting our carpet wet!" she shrieked. Amy rung her hair out and looked up at the woman. "So.." "So..get off of it now!" Amy sized her up. "Who are you, my mother? I am wet, cold, and tired. If you knew what I just went through, you would be thinking otherwise. Now, get off of my back." The lady gasped. "My word!" She stalked off. Everyone patted her on the back. "Way to go, Amy!" Jessie cheered. "Feisty," Nick teased, "Such a major turn-on for me." Amy just kind of glared/smiled at him. "Shut up." "Well, well, well..look what the tide washed in," the receptionist sneered as she strolled by them. Jessie glared at her. "Excuse me? I know you just didn't say that. Before I go off on your ugly hoochie ass, I'd suggest you get back to doing your job. I wouldn't want to be responsible for the downfall of your already too low to measure self-esteem." "Unlikely," the woman muttered. Jessie pulled a strand of her hair out and looked at it. "You know I think I have something in my hair." The woman curled her lip up at Jessie and chuckled. "Wouldn't doubt it." Jessie shook her hair out and soaked the girl. "That's better," she sighed, grinning, "I'd like a room now." The receptionist wiped the water off of her face. "You'll have to get in line," she muttered. She stalked off to the front desk. Little did she know she had smeared her make-up all over her face. A.J., Kelly, and Kevin turned towards her as she approached the desk and busted out laughing. She just ignored them. "We have only 3500 rooms vacant. The others can rent out the condos we have on the beach," she reported, typing into the computer. A.J. nodded. "Okay, well give the rooms to them and my friends and I will rent out two of your condos." She handed him two sets of keys and they walked off. Everyone moved up in line and she began registering them. The guys and Kelly walked over to everyone else. "What the hell happened to you guys?" A.J. asked. "Our dumbass captain took our boat so we had to swim here. Luckily it wasn't but a 1/2 mile swim," Matt spoke up. "Can we please have our key now?" Amy begged, "I need a shower, some food, and about 14 hours of sleep." "You ain't lying," Brian replied. "How are we going to get our luggage if we're even going to get it?" Howie asked. "I talked to one of the Coast Guard men awhile ago and they said they are going out there tonight to pick up all the luggage they can round up. Since none of us unpacked our clothes, it won't be hard to get them but Nick, sorry bud, that PlayStation is gone." Nick groaned. "Aww, man..Well, at least I still have my GameBoy." He started to get it out of his pocket but found it wasn't there. "What!? Man! Now what am I gonna do for entertainment?" Brian grinned. "Well, you've always got Amy," he quipped. Everyone laughed, except Nick and Amy who were bright red again. "That reminds me, Nick," Howie joked, "You still owe us a story." Everyone nodded. Well, except for Kevin and A.J., who looked confused. "What happened?" They all looked at Nick and Amy. "Nothing important, you two. They are just taking something they saw way out of proportion. Now can I get to my room?" "So, how are we going to split the condos?" A.J. asked. "Girls in one, boys in the other, of course," Amy said. "Yeah, gotta keep ya'll apart," Matt teased. Amy raised her finger at him. "Don't you start cuz there is so much I could say about yours and Jessie's relationship." Matt and Jessie blushed this time. Everyone started talking then. Amy had noticed the short girl standing next to A.J. and following him around until she couldn't take it anymore. "Who are you?" Kelly looked at her. "My name is Kelly Santos. And you are...?" Amy's face lit up. "Kelly? It's me, Amy!" Kelly smiled. "Amy? Man, Tat is gonna freak when she finds out that you're here!" "No, I think Tat is gonna freak when she finds out Nick's here," Amy whispered. "I know!" Amy leaned in. "You know A.J. has a girlfriend, right?" "Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know. I can window shop but I can't go in. I can flirt like hell though." Amy laughed. "Ain't that the truth?" "Doesn't Nick have a girlfriend and don't you have a boyfriend?" Amy's face saddened but perked up. "Not anymore!" Kelly's face lit up and she laughed. "Uh-oh! Look out, Nick!" Amy nudged her. "Shh!" "I don't know 'bout ya'll, but I would like to get to my room," A.J. said, "Let's go, please!" "Fine, fine!" Nick said, "C'mon!" Brian got in front of them and opened the door, walking out. They followed him. He started skipping slightly and walking funny. "Following the leader, following the leader," he sang. They laughed at him. When they got to the condos, A.J. turned to Kelly and smiled. "Thanks for all your help," he said. Kelly smiled at him. "No problem," she replied, "If you ever need me, I'm about eight condos down." A.J. nodded. "I appreciate it, and you're always welcome here." They smiled at each other. A.J. touched her arm. "See ya later." He glanced at her one last time before walking off. Kelly smiled to herself. I hope so, she thought. She turned around and walked back to her condo. Amy opened the door to hers and Jessie's condo. "Home sweet home," she said, turning on the light. The condo was huge. They gasped. "Whoa!" Jessie said, "This living room is bigger than my whole house." Amy looked at her. "Jess, you live in a trailer. My bathroom is bigger than your whole house.." Jessie shrugged. "Let's go see what our rooms look like." They walked down the hall and saw four bedrooms, each with king size beds, desks, dressers, and their own bathroom. "Man..I say forget going home," Amy joked, "Let's just live here." Jessie chuckled. "I'm for real. Hey, I wonder what the boys condo looks like.." They heard the boys whooping and hollering from their condo. Amy laughed. "I take it that they like it as much as we do ours." They walked off into their own rooms. Amy picked up the phone and dialed her grandmother's number, calling her before she forgot. She held the phone to her ear. "Hello?" a too-familiar voice she didn't want to hear picked up. I must have dialed the wrong number, she thought. She hung up the phone and redialed it very carefully. The same voice answered. "Lance, what in the hell are you doing there?" she snapped. "Amy, is that you?" "No, it's your mother." "Amy, where are you?" "Like I'd tell you." "I've been looking for you." "Why? So you can hurt me some more? Felt I hadn't had enough? What?" "Amy, I need to talk to you." "So talk.." "I am so sorry for what I did to you. I only realize now that I was incredibly stupid for.." "You're just realizing that? Wow, you're slow." "Amy, I still love you. Please give me another chance. Amy, please." Amy's knuckles were white from gripping the phone and her body was trembling. She clenched her jaw to steady her voice. No way was she going to let him hear her crying. "Lance, as much as I love you...No. I can't let you hurt me again. I'm sorry, wait no I'm not. Now let me talk to June." "Amy.." "NOW!" "Okay, here she is. See you later." "Very unlikely." "Amy?" June asked. "Why is he there?" "He came looking for you. Amy, I think he is sorry. Don't blow this chance." "Me blowing a chance? He blew it a long time ago. You don't know what he put me through. I...never mind..I just called to tell you I was here so I guess I'll let you go." "You're not mad at me, are you?" "No, no. Just at him. How could he..never mind. I gotta go, uh, unpack. Love ya, bye." "Bye. Love you too." Amy hung up the phone and unclenched her jaw. The tears that had puddled in her eyes, flooded down her cheeks as she started sobbing. "Hey, Amy!" Jessie started as she ran in, "Have you seen the ba.." She stopped dead in her tracks when she saw Amy. She walked over to her and sat down. "What's wrong?" Amy just shook her head, unable to talk from crying. "I need a walk.." she whispered. She got up and ran out the front door out on the beach, crying the whole way. "Amy!" Jessie yelled, but Amy was already halfway down the beach. Nick look up when she said that. He was just about to go inside when he saw Amy take off running. "I'll be right back," he told Brian. He turned around and ran off after her. "Where are you..?" Brian started, "going.." He turned and walked inside. "Amy!" Nick yelled. She kept on running. "Leave me alone!" she screamed. He caught up with her and grabbed her by the arm, jerking her back. He started gasping for air. She just kept sobbing. He pulled her to him and held her. She continued crying as he softly stroked her hair. "Shh..," he whispered, "It's okay. I'm here. Shh.." He pulled her back and looked into her teary eyes. Her eyes were puffy and red. He brushed the tears off of her cheeks and ruffled her hair. She looked up at him. He seemed so loving, so sympathetic. "Amy, what's wrong? You can tell me." She shook her head. "I can't." "I thought we were best friends, I thought we could tell each other anything. Amy, please tell me. I hate seeing you like this." She looked off, still sniffling. He knew what was going on. "It's Lance, isn't it?" She looked at him and he knew the answer before she could say a word. "So it is. What happened?" "I-I called my grandmother, you know, to tell her I was here, and uh..and he was there. H-he answered the phone. Said some crap about loving me, that he was stupid for what he did to me, that he wanted another chance." "And you told him?" "I told him no, but Nick, I still love him. There's still this part of me that wants to go back to him, that still needs him, that still thinks he might not hurt me again..I'm so confused. Why won't he go away? Why won't he leave me alone?" "Amy, it's all right to still love him. When you lose someone, you don't just stop loving them. Sometimes it takes years, sometimes you never stop loving them. But loving them doesn't mean taking them back when you know they're going to hurt you all over again. I wish I had never taken Mandy back after the first time she cheated on me but I loved her so much I thought she'd never hurt me again. I mean, she did apologize. Back then, I thought apologizing could solve everything. I soon learned that anyone can say they're sorry, just not everyone means it. I still love Mandy and probably always will but I know one day, hopefully soon, I'll find someone else who I love even more than her and someone who I know would never hurt me the way she hurt me. And I know, you being the great person that you are, will also find someone else." She looked up at him. "I don't know what I'm going to do, Nick, until then." He nodded. "That makes two of us. You know, you were right. We really should stick together. I think we're good for each other." Amy smiled slightly. "Watch how you say that." He laughed, causing her to smile even more. "Now, there's that pretty smile I like." She blushed and sniffled. He held out his hand. "Walk you home?" She took his hand. "Sure." They walked along the water to the house. When they reached their house, they stopped. Amy looked p at him. "Can we keep going?" Nick was a little surprised but accepted. "Um, okay." They walked towards Tat and Kelly's house. Kelly ran into the house and saw her sister chatting on the internet. She closed the door. Tat turned around and looked at her sister. "Guess what? I just found out that Nick and Mandy broke up a couple of days ago. Wait until I tell Amy!" "She already knows," Kelly replied. Tat looked at her strangely. "How?" Kelly smiled. "Cuz she's here and so are the Backstreet Boys!" Tat screamed. "Oh, my god!!" She stood up and ran over to her sister. "You met them?" Kelly squealed. "Yes! It was so cool! They were so sweet! And A.J., oh man!" "You could have come and gotten me!" "I wasn't going to leave them!" "How will I meet them though?" "A.J. said that we were welcome there anytime so we could go over there tomorrow and ask them over or something." "Yeah!" "I could introduce you to Nick. He is sooo fine up close! Well, not as fine as A.J. to me, but.." Tat screamed again. "I can't wait!!" She stopped as she remembered that Amy liked Nick too. "Wait, what about Amy? Oh, never mind. She's still dating Lance." Kelly shook her head. "They broke up a couple of weeks ago and from what I saw, her and Nick are already pretty tight." Tat's smile faded. "Man! Oh, well. He's mine. She'll just have to deal with it." Kelly looked outside to see Nick and Amy walking by, hand in hand. They stopped and started kicking water at each other, laughing and giggling. "I don't know about that." Tat looked at her. "What? What are you talking about? Of course he's mine." Kelly pointed outside. Tat watched as Nick scooped Amy up and threw her in the water, falling in himself. She gasped. "Pick a number," Kelly said, "Looks line there's a line in front of you." They looked at each other and back outside. Brian looked over at A.J. who looked a little out of it as he stared absently at the TV screen. "What's up with you?" he asked. A.J..'s head snapped up. "Huh?" Brian smiled. "Daydreaming about Amanda?" Amanda was his girlfriend of about a year, formerly in this girl singing group named Innosense. A.J. had a guilty look on his face. "Uh, yeah," he stuttered, "Speaking of which, I need to go call her." He got up and went to his room. Brian watched him walk off strangely but shrugged it off. "Well, hurry up! I need to call Leighanne!" Leighanne, who had been in a couple of the BSB's videos and who was an actress, and Brian had been dating for almost 2 years now. A.J. went into his room and closed the door, looking at his phone. He hadn't been thinking about Amanda at all. His mind was totally on Kelly. He knew it was wrong but he couldn't stop. He shook his head. I'll call Amanda, he reassured himself, She'll help me forget about Kelly. He called her and all through the call, his mind was on Kelly. Nick looked at his watch and then at Amy. Both were soaked from their water fight but they had had a lot of fun together. Probably the most fun either had experienced in a while. "It's getting late. We better head back before everyone starts to worry about us. I think we started something back at the ship." She got up off the sand, brushing her butt off and pulled Nick up. They started walking back. When they got to her house, they stopped in front of the door. "Here we are," she said, letting go of his hand reluctantly. They stood there uncomfortably. "Nick.." "Amy..." "You first.." they both said. Amy smiled up at him. "Thank you so much. I feel so much better right now. You are such a great friend." "No problem." "Good night." He grinned. "Sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite." She giggled. "I try to stop them but they just don't understand what 'no' means.." He chuckled. "Good night to you too." He stepped closer as if he was going to kiss her but she stepped back quickly. He noticed this so he back off, smiling at her. "See you tomorrow." She nodded. "Until then..bye." Amy walked up the steps and watched as he climbed his own. They smiled at each other and walked into their houses.
