Sleep Will Come
Sleep calls me to its bed
But I won’t be fed to his inner self
So put me on the shelf
And forget about me
Cause when I come back tomorrow
I’ll be ready, and I’ll be stronger
So steal all of the time the world feeds on
And let it slip by in this manifested dream we call life
Cause everyday I’ll wake up
With the inhibition to put away everything that I once believed
Everyday I’m waiting for you to be done with this little game
You’ve conjured up hopes and dreams that all seem out of reach
So when you set your goals to the clouds
What’s left when you’ve reached them, but to go down?
So set your goals high
And blame me when you fall on your face, bruised and beaten with a vengeance
Why should I care?
Those things can never be the same; in a year’s time I’ll bet the memories will fade into some abyss
Just out of the reach of the claws of the past
But with reason
And doubt
You believe it means everything
So tear down ten years with a single fist
And leave your petty lies at home
Cause I know what’s behind that smile
The true thoughts leaping from that overactive mind
I’ll pretend I don’t notice
And plunge back into the game of false leisure and righteous thoughts
But I can’t do it, I can’t help it
I don’t wanna be alone
