(Drist members; Tyson-Vocals, Brian- Guitar, David- Bass, Chris- Drums)

Brian met Tyson way back in '96. Since both had the common interest to start a band and kick a plethora of ass, they agreed to jam to see what they could come up with. Thus the birth of Drist. Like all bands starting out, they practiced on a lot of covers to get into the swing of things. Soon, original ideas began to emerge and they felt they were ready to begin. Tyson started out playing bass. Brian's cousin, Billy, was singing but he felt that music was not the direction he wanted to go into so he decided to leave the band. The first drummer, Harold, was truly an awesome spectacle. This guy would play so hard that if you played next to him, you would have to watch out for wood and metal shrapnel. Harold soon got kicked out of the place he was staying in and the only thing that excluded him from being a bum was a pair of shoes and a skateboard. With this dilemma facing him, he decided to go live with family in Texas. Now the band was reduced to 2 members. Brian and Tyson started to put out flyers, check local music magazines, search the internet, ask friends and even strangers all in efforts to find a new singer and drummer. They tried out a lot of people for the band and ended up only with the realization that this world is filled with a lot of pitiful excuses for musicians. Brian and Tyson still kept writing music and kept their eyes open for musicians. They spent a lot of time playing video games and drinking slurpies. Tyson blames his carpal tunnel on Brian's incessant need to play 2 player NHL Hockey for N64. Weeks and weeks past by and finally, they came across a drummer and a bass player. Tyson moved to vocals to complete the band and showed the new bass player, Dave, the current bass parts. Chris, the drummer, shared the bands interest, picked up the style and was able to lay down some good drum beats. The band soon got to practicing and found that they all worked well together and liked what came from their gatherings. Soon enough, Drist was gigging around the San Mateo, California area.

Drist was formed in San Mateo, California, in March 1997. The band started out playing cover tunes by various metal bands, played local high school, gyms and recreation centers. Drist soon started writing their own material and playing more gigs doing their own songs and developed a following. Drist went into the studio and recorded a 2-song demo which led to more local gigs. Among them, Drist was very well received at the Edge in Palo Alto. The band considers this a huge milestone in their evolution. Drist recently completed a 5-song demo which the band hopes, will open more new doors and will give them the ability to share their music with as many people as possible.
