interview from f81 online:
F81 Online: How and when did you guys get together and form Factory 81?
Bill: Well me and our bass player Kevin have been playing together for a while, we were in previous bands together. And we put an ad out for a singer and Nate answered it. And we went through a few drummers just finally we found Andy.
F81 Online: Have any of you been in bands before Factory 81?
Bill: Yeah, but I don't really remember any on there names, I think Undone was one of them.
F81 Online: Were there any name possibilities before Factory 81?
Bill: We never were really thinking of a name at all, it just happened when Nate came over one day and was wearing a Chrysler: Factory #81 shirt that he bought. But we never were think of a name at all, it just happened
F81 Online: What was the first song you ever completed, and what are your favorites to play live?
Bill: Umm, the first song we ever finished was Sludge, that was the song we were playing and Nate just started singing to it and everything just clicked. And my favorites to play live would be 14 Left, Peace Officer, and Diary of a Serial Killer
F81 Online: How do you come up with the names for your songs like Nanu and Cheese Wheel?
Bill: Well Nate usually comes up with that, it's whatever is going through his crazy mind, basically everyone does there own stuff.
F81 Online: What type of equipment do you guys frequently use?
Bill: Well I use ESP Guitars, and our bass player Kevin usually uses Warwick basses. And we both use Mesa Boogie amps. Then our drummer Andy uses DW Drums.
F81 Online: What albums have you been listening to lately?
Bill: The new Weezer album, the Staind album is pretty good, I got an advanced copy of the new System of a Down CD and thats really good. But latley I have been buying a lot of DVD's like the other day I bought Mallrats and Dogma, I have a pretty good collection now.
F81 Online: Did the re-release of Mankind sell as well as you expected?
Bill: Yeah, I think it did. But, I think it's still gonna be selling because we didn't get the kind of promotion we wanted and not a lot of people know about it.
F81 Online: I heard the next single will be Peace Officer, when will it be hitting radio, and will there be a video?
Bill: Soon as everything is done with the label but as of now I don't know.
F81 Online: Do you know what label your going to, because I heard you were gonna be on Five Star Records.
Bill: Well we aren't supposed to tell anyone or talk about this, but yeah your right.
F81 Online: I read a couple of reviews online that said you guys were just another Metal Cliche, waht do you think about that.
Bill: It doesn't really matter, we play what feels good to us. We don't try to sound like something else because we think people will like it. We play what we like and don't try to act like someone else.
F81 Online: How has your tour been?
Bill: Been awesome, all the bands we are with are awesome. It's been really fun watching the opening acts, and the crowds have been amazing.
F81 Online: What are your favorite cities to play in?
Bill: All of Texas, like San Antonio and Houston, and of course out home Detroit. Boston and Milwuakee have been really good, and Chicago is like our second home. But there are some small cities we have played in were the responce wasn't really good.
F81 Online: What made you choose the 3 bands you did to tour with?
Bill: They were actually 3 bands we were lookin at to do a tour with, there names haven't really been around alot, and we love there music. Chimaira is a awesome band, and the rest are too. We've just seen them live before, and wanted to tour with them.
F81 Online: I heard Sw1tched will join the tour and 40 Below Summer will be dropping off soon is that true?
Bill: Well Sw1tched has already started touring with us, we've done shows with them before, so it's like old friends coming back. And yeah the tour only goes till Sept 4th, so if 40 Below Summer has to join another tour thats fine with us, it's good for them.
F81 Online: How do you feel about being able to do some shows in Japan?
Bill: Awesome, just the fact that we can goto Japan is great. It's a big step for us, and we are really excited.
F81 Online: Anything else you wanna say?
Bill: Nothin really, just everyone come check us out soon, and check out Factory81.net. Because Universal Records never fuckin updates the Factory81.com
F81 Online: Ok, thanks for the interview.
Bill: No, Thank you, bye.
Some wording is not Bill's, he was talking so fast I couldn't keep up with writing what he said down so....and plus I don't have anything to recocrd the conversation, but basically everything is his own words except a couple small things.
