concert review from fankind:
08.11.01

Outside of Klub Phenomenon fans stood lined up waiting to get in to see the show. A school bus full of people pulled in and news came that the show would be delayed due to the fact that the local band (Cry for Dawn) had just arrived. As the continued wait stretched on CDs, stickers, and tapes were being handed out to the people in line.

The doors finally opened at 6:45 and the people began to spew in. The house was probably about 1/4 full, but the people there were hyped for what was to come. Cry for Dawn took the stage first. Their music seemed to me to be somewhat like the music on Coal Chamber's first album. Their guitarist played a few solos here and there that got the crowd going and the lead singer spilled his energy out all over the stage screaming out lyrics and jumping around the stage. Their fans, that were once held in the school bus, were going wild and cheering on their boys!

40 below summer took the stage next. They opened with the song We the People which got the people moving and cheering. The guitarist had and the lead singer seemed to keep everyone's attention with their constant movement. The music was some of the best I have heard out of a new band n a while. Their CD comes out Oct 16th and is entitled Invitation To The Dance. If you are into Factory 81 I can almost guarantee that you will fall in love with this band!

Ill Nino steped onto the stage next and seemed to pull out more energy then anyone had to be giving away. Their unique sounds filled the room. They had an edge to their band, bongos (played by Roger). Which seemed to support their music in execellent manner. Near the end of their set a guy from the audience got thrown up on stage and ran off to the side. Seconds after the band set aside their instruments and ran into he backstage area. The bassist returned and played on his own until the rest of the bands rejoined them.

Finally Factory 81 took the stage opening with their single Nanu. The kept up their energy, trying to get everything the could out of the crowd, and the pulled it off well despite the diffculties that the club supplied them with (ie: a crappy amp for the vocals and a bass amp that cut out on Kevin). During Rotten Strawberries Roger(of Ill Nino) accompanied Andy in the percussion area. It was so awesome and it fit so well! Factory 81 also played a new song! However, at the time I am not currently aware of what the name was because the vocals amp was a piece of crap. All in all they did a great job.

The evening came to a close with satisfied fans leaving to return to hotel rooms or their homes. They filtered out slowly, some staying behind to visit with the bands and some jetting out right away.
