mankind review from epinions:

I first heard of Factory 81 2 years ago, when my friend stopped in a concert hall in Detroit and saw them live. He said they were so good, they were better than Incubus (who were our big band back then, back when they actually played metal). I didn't believe him. Last year, he went and brought me back their CD, Mankind. Mankind was the most amazing CD i ever heard, the only problem was it wasn't available over here in NJ, because it was released on an independent record label. Well, good news! Mankind was re-released on Universal/Mojo/Media records on Oct. 10, 2000! That means you can all go out and buy it! Why should you buy it you ask? First of all, to all Tool and Deftones fans: You will no doubt, absolutely love this CD. Nate, the vocalist, sounds so much like Maynard from Tool its scary. So you have a beautiful voice singing. And he also sounds cool when he screams (which is a lot). The songs are original and really really good. They sound alot like Deftones based on their scream/sing fusion. They also sound kinda like Nothingface, but Nate doesn't scream as much as Nothingface's vocalist Matt does. Anyway, this CD is a masterpiece. Every song on it is amazing. There are only 2 issues I have with this CD. 1 is that Nate's voice sometimes drags on when he sings a high note, and it makes him sound kind of whiny. The other problem I have is that on the bonus track (mysteriously located on track 81), Nate insists on rapping, and I don't know why, I don't think he sounds too cool. Anyone who is interested in Nate's rapping style can check out Factory 81's track on a rock tribute to rap CD, Take A Bite Outta Rhyme (they covered Insane in the Brain by Cypress Hill). This CD rocks.
