This group had started in 1990 in Boston, where there where many other young bands that had begun to grow a fan base by thaking the advantage id air play on local college raios stations. Greg McKenna, guitarist, had starteed Letters To Cleo as another group. As he went on his search for a background singer for his lineup, he had found vocalist Kay Hanley. The band fall apart only after a few months, and later McKenna and Hanley stayed on, which was then they had came up with the Letters To Cleo and switched to a more power pop band.
They had added a new mix the group, guitarist Micheal Eisenstein. Time went by as drummer Stacy Jones and bassist Scott Reibling had joined. The five seemed to click on a personal and musical leavle. Letters To Cleo had its first recording when Aurora Gory Alice, hit the markets in 1993.It had been released under a local Cherry Disc Records lable. There debut album had done better that expected, and the band had soon fulll attention of the major lable Giant Records. Giant did a re-release of Arora Gory Alice in 1994. When it was followed bt a sophmore recording of Wholesalwe Meats and Fish a year later. The group also put out a couple of notabkle singles in 1995 "Awake" and "Here & Now." A music video had been shot for the latter and gained good exposure on MTV. The tune was even used on a popular show, Melrose Place, for its hit soundtrack.
Everything seemed to be going quite well, but the second album, Wholesale Meats & Fish had not been doing well. It would be until 2 years later before their next album, Go, appeared. It had been released under Revolution Records lable. At this time drummer, Stacy Jones, had parted ways with Letters To Cleo to join another group, Veruca Salt, in which Tom Polce taken the spot left vacant. In 1998, the group had given it another try with Sister. some of the tracks that the fans enjoyed from the last two recording are "Secret Agent," "Dreams," "Never Tell," "Anchor," "Because of You," and "I Got Time." While on the way the group toured continuously, when Kay Hanley got married to Micheal Eisenstein, Stacy Jones rejoined the group shortly after, and a good time had been by all.
On May 4th, of 2000, Letters To Cleo played its last gig, where it happened to be in Boston, where the band started off. The next month, the local newspaper, Boston Globe, made the announcement official. The group did work together for quite sometime, because of a signed contract that had them obligated to complete work on Generation-O, an animated series for television. After that, most of the memebers are forward to testing out their skills as solo artists, in one form or another.
