Gollum
Gollum's real name was Smeagol. When his cousin found the Ring he wanted it. They started to fight for it and the fight resulted in the death of his cousin. Cast out from the other hobbits, he went into hiding in the Misty Mountains. The Ring gave him unnatural long life. He stayed there undisturbed for many years. The Ring changed him and drove him mad. When the hobbit Bilbo happened on the Ring and stole it from him, it drove him even madder. Bilbo passed the Ring on to his nephew, Frodo. When what the Ring was truly found out Frodo set out on a quest to destroy the Ring. Along the way Gollum found him and became the servant of Frodo after he spared Gollum's life. Gollum then led them into Mordor. The way that he took them was through Shelobs lair, where he betrayed them to Shelob in an effort to get the Ring. He failed though and they both lived. He finally caught up with them again in the heart of Mount Doom. he struggled with Frodo and bite of one of his fingers to get the Ring. In his glee he fell into the fire, destroying himself and the Ring.
