Do the gullwing doors require a lot of clearance to open?

No. The gullwing doors only need 14 inches of space to the side and only stick out 4 inches from the side of the car when fully open. They do stick up in the air quite a ways, but since the car is so low to begin with, they only require as much clearance up top as a small pickup or SUV.
