| 1 Albright A. Averett was born abt. 1799 in Hancock Co., GA, and died August 10, 1867 in Stewart Co., GA. He married Jane Cook on February 8, 1826 in Hancock Co., GA. Jane was born abt. 1800 and died abt. 1827 in Hancock Co., GA. Albright married a second wife, Mary Vinson on January 1, 1829 in Hancock Co., GA. Mary was the daughter of West Vinson and Ann Vinson. Mary was born abt. 1805 in Hancock Co., GA, and died after 1870 in Stewart Co., GA. Albright was a farmer. He moved from Hancock County to Muscogee County, then to Stewart County, where he died. Albright and Mary are buried in the family cemetary near Renfroe, about 20 yards from where the corner of the old house stood. His tombstone has his name as Albret Averett and the date of death as August 10, 1868... the stone was probably added much later with an incorrect date... Albright's will was probated September 15, 1867. |

| Eli Monroe Averett was born October 26, 1841 in Renfroe, Stewart Co., GA and died October 2, 1920 in Columbus, Muscogee Co., GA. |
| Eli enlisted at Columbus, GA in Company I, 5th Georgia Regiment in June 1861 and served until April 26, 1865 when his unit surrendered at Greensboro, Guilford Co., NC. He was released to return home on May 5, 1865. He did not apply for his veteran's pension until Sept. 12, 1919. He shipped car loads of watermelons from his farm at Renfroe (but the farm was principally in Stewart Co., the smaller part in Chattahoochee Co.). |
| He became a wholesale grocer in Columbus. He always led the Confederate Memorial Day parade on a white horse. He always sent fruit to the orphan's home in Columbus. When he died, the funeral service was at 1512 18th Street and all the orphans came and lined up outside the house as an honor guard for the coffin. |
