Image Info...
For several years I had been interested in a wider view of my subjects. In late 2001, I purchased a 17-35 mm Nikkor zoom lens to accommodate this interest. My first outing with the lens took me to a nearby canyon with an unusual bubbly appearance. The white highlights within the reddish rock added interest to the scene and the 17-mm perspective gave added importance to the foreground subject. Building cirrus clouds provided a soft light that helped control contrast.
The image was taken in February 2002 with a Nikon FM2 camera and Fuji Velvia film.
