Interview with Marc Ash

Seggal: What names do you and have you wrestled under?
Marc Ash: I have always been Marc Ash. The name started out as Magnificent Marc Ash, then I developed my Mean streak.
Seggal: How did the mean streak come about? Marc Ash: I always had it basically. I never wanted to be a good guy wrestler. Marc just had to come out & be himself.
Seggal: What federations do you work with?
Marc Ash: I am focusing on National Championship Wrestling & ICW Pro.
Seggal: Are you currently involved in any feuds?
Marc Ash: Yes I am. I am currently feuding with Viper in the NCW. In the ICW I am a marked man as the heavyweight champion. I even have Ivan Koloff coming out of retirement for another shot.
Seggal: How can fans subscribe to the ICW newsletter?
Marc Ash: E-mail ICWPro123@aol.com & request to be added. It doesn't come out on any regular time schedule but, it is very informative.
Seggal: Have you faced Ivan Kollof before?
Marc Ash: Yes, I have. There has never been a clear cut winner. But, he has been in retirement since 1994. Yes, I know he was my manager for most of '96, but he still doesn't have what it takes.
Seggal: Have you broken the PWI 500 before?
Marc Ash : I have been in the 500 4 of the last 5 years. I have been as high as 242.
Seggal: Are you gonna crack it again this year?
Marc Ash: Oh hell yeah. Or I may just have to go & have a personal talk with ole Billy Boy Apter.
Seggal: Will the big leagues ever come calling?
Marc Ash: NCW is owned & operated by the WWF. I am currently employed by the biggest of the big leagues.
Seggal: Do you think they will add you to their tour?
Marc Ash: In the very near future I hope.
Seggal: Is there a good chance of it?
Marc Ash: I think so, I'm already headlining the NCW tour.
Seggal: Let's play a name association game, I give you the name you give us the first thing that comes to your mind
Marc Ash: ok, shoot
Seggal: Vince McMahon
Marc Ash: Marketing Genius

Seggal: Eric Bishoff
Marc Ash: Sorry SOB
Seggal: Jim Ross
Marc Ash: the best commentator in the business
Seggal: Terry Taylor
Marc Ash: Great talent but very underused.
Seggal: Paul Heyman
Marc Ash: Another genius but with a fad for a product. It is already fading.
Seggal: Hulk Hogan
Marc Ash: Worthless egomaniac.
Seggal: Bruno Sammartino
Marc Ash: Good solid wrestler but very overated.
Seggal: Mitsuharu Misawa
Marc Ash: Good high flyer
Seggal: What do you think the main differance between American and Japan wrestling is?
Marc Ash: The $$$$$
Seggal: In what sense
Marc Ash: Well the undercard boys in Japan bring home $10,000 a week.
Seggal: thats some serious dough, would you ever work the Japan circuit?
Marc Ash: Most definately. I am trying my best to get there.
Seggal: If you could face on wrestler past or presant who would it be?
Marc Ash: Ric Flair
Seggal: Any chance of going to WCW?
Marc Ash: No, I'm just not that old.
Seggal: I take it you aren't too big on Turner's fed
Marc Ash: NO,I'M NOT. They had their chance to hire me, but Vince being the genius he is, recognized the talent.
Seggal: Who was the best wrestler you have ever faced?
Marc Ash: Ivan Koloff, Nelson Royal, & Craig Pittman are the best I've faced. Hard to pick a winner.
Seggal: Do Pittman and Royal still compete with you?
Marc Ash: Pittman does. Nelson is basically retired.
Seggal: Does WWF have a contract with Pittman too?
Marc Ash: No, not at this time.
Seggal: What is your finisher?
Marc Ash: The Ashkicka
Seggal: Which is what?
Marc Ash: It is a higher impact version of the Stunner. I elevate my opponent high in the air, then stun them on their way down.
Seggal: How long have you been using it?
Marc Ash: About a year now.
Seggal: Who trained you?
Marc Ash: Nelson Royal & Gene Anderson. I had my first match in June 1989 against a guy named Rattlesnake Brooks, & I won!!
Seggal: Were you immediatly given a push?
Marc Ash: Yes, I was
Seggal: Should all wrestlers have to "pay their dues" in the indys?
Marc Ash: Yes they should. There are just too many one training lesson wonders out there, if ya know what I mean.
Seggal: expand on that
Marc Ash: Too many guys sign up for training. Go for 1 day. Then think they know it all.
Seggal: In the sport today you would think that would be deadly
Marc Ash: Yes it is.
Seggal: What is it like backstage, is there any heat between wrestlers?
Marc Ash: Yes, but not too much.
Seggal: alright do you have any final comments or plugs for the fans?
Marc Ash: Yeah, support wrestling when it comes to your area. If I'm on the show get your butt to the show & say hi.
Seggal: Thanks Mean Marc for the interview and your time
Marc Ash: No prob, my pleasure.
