II. David

A. Nature and Character of reign: At first everything looked up, nothing but success. After Bathsheba, David consolidates and grows in strength, but suffers continual revolts and rebellions. He rests only in death as he anoints Solomon in his place. Note the difference between David and Saul.

B. Joab's character was typical of the time( 1 Kings 2:32 ). He was involved in the murders of Abner, Uriah, Amasa. He couldn't see any wrong in Absolom's rebellion and took part in Adonijah's conspiracy.( 2 Sam.3:39 )

C. David as a prophet( Psa. 16:8f; 22:15; 2; 2 Sam. 7:12-13 ).

D. David as a Psalmist( 23, 51, 119, 148 )

E. David had more than one wife!

III. Solomon.
