ACTS TWENTY FIVE SUMMARY

I.        FESTUS REPLACES FELIX( vs. 1-5 ).

A.        FESTUS GOES TO JERUSALEM AND PAUL IS ACCUSED BY THE PRIESTS.

B.         A PLOT TO KILL PAUL ... AGAIN.

            1.         They seek to have him brought to Jerusalem so they can kill him on the way.

            2.         Festus is about to go to Caesarea and determines that Paul should stay there.

            3.         He invites those of power to go with him and accuse Paul.

II.       PAUL'S FIRST INTERVIEW WITH FESTUS( vs. 6-12 ).

A.        AFTER EIGHT OR TEN DAYS FESTUS GOES DOWN.

B.         THE JEWS MAKE ACCUSATIONS THEY CANNOT PROVE.

C.        PAUL PLEADS INNOCENT TO ALL CHARGES.

D.        FESTUS ASKS PAUL TO GO TO JERUSALEM.

            1.         Paul insists on civil protection.

            2.         Paul comments on the death penalty.

            3.         He appeals to Caesar, and Festus determines to send him there.

III.      THE ARRIVAL OF AGRIPPA AND BERNICE( vs. 13-22 ).

A.        FESTUS SPEAKS TO AGRIPPA ABOUT PAUL.

            1.         He tells of the source of the charges - the Jews.

            2.         He tells of the circumstance of the trial.

            3.         The charges turned out to be questions of their own religion.

            4.         Paul spoke of Jesus.  Festus is confused about all this.

            5.         Festus decided to honor his appeal to Caesar.

B.         AGRIPPA AGREES TO HEAR PAUL.

IV.     THE TRIAL BEGINS( vs. 23-27 )

A.        BERNICE AND AGRIPPA ENTER WITH GREAT POMP.

B.         THE CHIEF CAPTAINS AND PRINCIPLE MEN GATHER TO HEAR, ALSO.

C.        THE INTRODUCTION OF PAUL BY FESTUS:

            1.         He tells of the Jews demand for the death penalty.

            2.         Festus found him innocent.

            3.         He tells of the appeal to Caesar and his decision.

            4.         He doesn't know how to explain to Caesar Paul's presence.

            5.         That is why Agrippa was to hear him.
