ACTS TWENTY FOUR SUMMARY

I.        TERTULLUS VS. PAUL BEFORE FELIX( vs. 1-23 ).

A.        ANANIAS, THE HIGH PRIEST, BRINGS CERTAIN ELDERS AND TERTULLUS

            TO FELIX TO MAKE ACCUSATION( vs. 1-2 ).

B.         THE SPEECH OF TERTULLUS:

            1.         He butters up Felix, saying things he does not believe.

            2.         The accusations:  a pestilent fellow, mover of insurrections, ringleader of the

                        sect of the Nazarenes, who assayed to profane the temple.

C.        PAUL'S DEFENSE:

            1.         Felix knew it was only twelve days since he had passed through Caesarea.

            2.         Charges are unprovable.

                        a.         Wasn't there long enough to stir up trouble in the temple.

                        b.         No proof of the other charges.

            3.         Paul tells what he has been doing.

                        a.         He served God after the Way which they call a sect.

                        b.         He believed all things which are according to the law and the prophets.

                        c.         Shared a common hope with these Jews - the RESURRECTION.

            4.         Void of offense and of good conscience.

            5.         He came bringing alms to needy Jews, not to start an insurrection.

            6.         He was in the temple alone, being purified.

            7.         The Asian Jews who were responsible for this mess ought to be here.

            8.         "Let these men themselves say what wrong-doing they found..."

D.        FELIX DEFERS THE DISCUSSION TILL LYSIAS SHOULD COME.

E.         PAUL KEPT IN CHARGE, BUT GIVEN PRIVILEGE.

II.       FELIX'S TREATMENT OF PAUL( vs. 24-27 ).

A.        FELIX AND DRUSILLA CALL PAUL TO HEAR HIM CONCERNING THE WAY.

            1.         Paul's sermon on:

                        a.         Righteousness.

                        b.         Self-control.

                        c.         Judgment to come.

            2.         The reaction of Felix - "A CONVENIENT SEASON."

B.         HE KEEP PAUL IN PRISON HOPING TO GET HIS MONEY.

C.        FELIX IS REPLACED BY PORCIUS FESTUS.
