De Soto Brewing Company
© By Dave Paradine

The Desoto Brewing Company opened in late 1934 at 1202 N. Howard Ave.
They produced two Brands, De Soto Beer and Colonial Ale. At this point in
time I have never seen anything from this brewery. So if anyone has a Pic
or can direct me to where I may observe any items from this Brewery, that
would be Greatly Appreciated.
They were only open until around 1936 making anything from this Brewery
very rare and very expensive.

This Sign appeared on Ebay at the end of last year (2002). The seller claimed the sign was hung at the Brewery and was owned by them. This Stamp was on its back side. The auction went to $102.50 but did not reach the sellers reserve. I am not saying that this sign did not hang on the wall of the Desoto Brewing Co., but I remember seeing this (a similar sign) at an antique store on the East Coast of Fl. while on vacation. So I started looking around here, North Tampa area, and found one at the Gunn Highway Flea Market in Odessa Fl. It is identical to sign pictured but does not have the stamp. It was made of fiberglass or some kind of plastic resin. It had a price of $11.50. Not sure of it's age, but did they have that kind of resin material back in the 30's?
