Ring...Ring...Ring...
I picked up the phone on the table next to the bed, and heard a recording. At first I forgot where I was, but then I remembered it was just a wake-up call. I hung-up the phone and stumbled over to Brian and Nick’s room. I shook Nick and told him it was time to get up, he rolled over and ignored me, so I tried for Brian. He got up and took a shower, while I tried to get Nick up.
“C’mon Nick, you have to get up!”, I whined to Nick as I layed down next to him in the bed.
“No I don’t!”, Nick groaned, while sitting up, “Actually I guess I do.”
“Yeah, you do!”, I said as I walked back to my room and took a shower.
In a couple of minutes we were ready to head off to the venue. When we got there the guys and me put our stuff in the dressing room. Then the guys headed to the stage to warm up their voices while I got everyone coffee. While I was there I bumped into someone.
“Sorry! It’s so early in the morning I can barley see where I’m going!”, I said as we waited in line at the food stand.
“Tell me about it! Aren’t you Mandy Littrell?”, the girl asked.
“Yup, I am! Are you one of the opening acts?”, I asked her, she looked about my age, she had long strawberry blonde hair, and the greenest eyes, she was really pretty.
“Yeah, I’m Kat Leery. I’m a solo artist. I’m so excited to be on tour with the Backstreet Boys. It’s really good publicity, and I can’t wait to meet them!”
“They’re a bunch of really nice guys, I’m so glad to be on tour with them, especially since Nick is my best friend. How old are you by the way?”
“I’m 18, you’re best friends with Nick? He is so hot, is his personality as good as his looks?”, Kat said, she seemed really nice, even if she may have a thing for Nick.
“Yeah, he’s really sweet, I’ll take you to meet him and the rest of the guys after we got our stuff here!”, I said as I ordered 6 coffee’s, I felt kind of stupid trying to carry them all, but Kat helped me carry them.
“I can’t believe I’m meeting the Backstreet Boys. I’ve been a fan of them for such a long time. Actually, if it wasn’t for them I might not even be here. An executive from a record company heard me singing to one of their songs in my car, and got me an audition.”
“Wow, that’s really cool!”, I said as we stepped onto the stage, “Let’s go!”, I said grabbing Kat’s hand and dragging her over to where the guys where.
“Hey Mandy, who’s the friend?”, Brian asked while passing out the coffee.
“Guys, this is Kat Leery, she’s one of your opening acts! Kat, I think you know who they are already, even if they are a little scary in the morning!”, I said while looking at Nick’s hair, “Nick’s a little too slow in the morning to understand the concept of a hairbrush!”, I ducked figuring he was going to hit me, but he didn’t, he was staring at Kat.
He looked so engrossed, like he was never going to look away. He was staring at her eyes like they were talking to him. He never stared at me like that. I felt kind of hurt, but I had to get over it. Nick’s a great guy and he can get just about anyone he wants, I can’t expect him to always be single.
“Well, I better get ready for my debut into the public! It was nice meeting all of you, I have the feeling I’ll be with you guys a lot!”, Kat said while she walked off the stage.
“Hey Nick! Snap out of it!”, I said waving my hands in front of his face.
“What? Uh...yeah, let’s get back to practicing.”, Nick said as he joined the rest of the guys. I gave Brian a look that meant, I’ll talk to you later, and went to find Kat.
I found Kat’s dressing room, and knocked on the door. I waited patiently until Kat answered the door.
“Oh, hey Mandy what’s up?”, Kat said as she led me into the room.
“Nothing much, so what’d you think of the guys?”, I said as we sat down on the couch.
“Wow, they’re even hotter in person!”, Kat said while laughing.
“I think Nick might have the hot’s for you. He was looking at you so intently!”, I said.
“Really? You think so? I can’t believe this, it’s just too good to be true!”
“Brian, did you see that girl? She is so amazing, those eyes and that hair! She was so sweet too.”, I said to Brian, we had finished warming-up and were waiting for the dancers and band to get here.
“Who? My sister or Kat?”, Brian asked, he was busy trying to figure out how we were going to exit the stage at the end of the show so he wasn’t really paying attention.
“Uh..Brian, please, you’re the only one here I can talk to about Kat. You know how awkward it is for me and Mandy to talk about that kind of stuff!”, I said while walking off the stage.
“I’m sorry Nick, it’s just that Mandy....nevermind, go on about what you were saying.”, Brian said while grabbing my arm and bringing me back on stage.
“She was just so beautiful, and when I looked into her eyes it was like they were talking to me. It was like we were meant to be together or something”, I said with a sigh. I always thought I would be with Mandy, but now that I’ve found Kat I just don’t know.
“Nick, you haven’t even talked to the girl, I thought she was beautiful too, but you’ve got to remember the inside Nick.”, Brian said to me as the band and dancers got here.
“Good luck Kat!”, I said to Kat as she went out on stage.
She had been really nervous before the show, but I didn’t really get to talk to her. Her and Mandy in only a couple of hours became really good friends, and it was decided that Kat would share rooms with Mandy, and she would go on our tour bus.
“Thanks Nick! You too!”, Kat said as she ran out on the stage.
She looked really cute. She had on a dark red tank top and khaki shorts. She had her hair up in a ponytail, and some wisps hanging down. I sighed thinking about how great it would be to have her in my arms, when I felt someone lean their head on my shoulder. I turned around and was face to face with Mandy. We just kind of stared at each other, she looked so beautiful and innocent, and all thought’s of Kat left my mind as I kissed Mandy. That was the most passionate and meaningful kiss I have ever given to anyone in my life. As we pulled away I saw tears in Mandy’s eyes.
“I have been waiting for that since I met you, but you were thinking of Kat that whole time!”, Mandy whispered as she ran away.
That wasn’t true though, I was thinking about her that whole time not Kat. I knew it would get even more confusing if me and Mandy ever went out. Just then, Kat walked over with Brian.
“Wow, that was so amazing! I’ve never felt so pumped before!”, Kat said.
“I know isn’t it a great experience? You were awesome out there Kat!”, Brian said while looking at me with a confused look, he knew something was wrong.
“Yeah, you were, can you excuse me and Brian for a minute please?”, I said as I dragged Brian into the cafeteria.
“What just happened before Kat and me came over to you?”, Brian asked.
“I had just wished Kat good luck, and then Mandy came over and rested her head on my shoulder, and we kissed. I had never kissed anyone like that or felt anything like that before in my life. Then we broke away and Mandy had tears in her eyes, and she said that she had been waiting for that to happen her whole life, but I was thinking about Kat the whole time. But that’s not true, I was thinking of Mandy that whole time and how much I wanted to be with her, but she’s never going to believe me.”, I said as I layed my head on the table.
“If you had a choice between Kat and Mandy who would choose?”, Brian asked me.
“Mandy.”, I said, I didn’t even need to think about it.
“Well, I think you just got her!”, Brian said, I turned around and I saw Mandy standing behind me, “I’ll let you guys talk.”
“Mandy, I want to be with you, Kat is nothing compared to you.”, I said staring into her eyes.
“I want to be with you too, but is it going to work?”, she said, she was still crying a little.
“We’ll make it work.”, I said as I lifted her chin and kissed her again.
I had been waiting for this since I met her too. I had always dreamed of being with Mandy, and us having a family. And now that it’s happening it feels so good.
“Um...I don’t want to interrupt you guys but we’re going on stage now.”, Brian said to me.
“I’ll be right there.”, I said while turning back to Mandy, “I’ll see you after the show and we can finish talking, okay?”
“Sure!”, she said as we hugged and I headed to the stage.
“So I guess you got her, huh?”, Brian said to me.
“Yeah, I did, and I’ve never felt so happy in my life!”, I said as we started the show.
The whole show I thought about Mandy and how great it felt to be with her. I think that was my best show because I had the biggest influence and it was like I was singing to her. I couldn’t wait for her to be in my arms again.
