Just Friends: Chapter 19
***Mandy's Point of View***
“Oh my god Leighanne!”, I said rushing to her.
“Holy shit....Brian!”, Nick screamed, running after Brian who had ran off the tour bus after he hit her. (Author’s note: I doubt Brian would ever do something like this, it’s just a part of the story. Brian is one of the sweetest, if not the sweetest, member of the BSB).
“I can’t believe that he would...hit...me...”, Leighanne said.
She wasn’t even crying, she was in such shock. I don’t know what came over him, he would never do something like that!
“I can’t believe he would do that either Leighanne.”, I said, wrapping my arms around her.
“All I said was that he was being selfish about you, that Nick was entitled to be with you too. I guess it was a sensitive subject or something.”, she said, beginning to cry.
By that time everyone else on the tour bus was crowding around her. Kevin, Howie, and AJ figured out what had happened by her last statement, so they too left the tour bus and ran after him. Kat gave a sympathetic smile, looked at me, and left.
“Even if it was a sensitive subject he had, has, no right to hit you!”
“I know, I know, but I’m not gonna like press charges or anything. That would be just stupid, it happened once and it’s never gonna happen again. And not to mention it would totally ruin his career, it would ruin the whole band!”
Before I could speak, Nick walked back in, followed by Kevin, AJ, Howie, and Brian at the end. Without speaking a word, everyone left the kitchen and went into the entertainment room, except for Brian and Leighanne.
“What happened?”, I asked sitting down next to Nick, letting him wrap his arms around me.
“They were fighting, about me, and something came over him. It was just like a way for him to let out all of his anger. He feels so bad, I’ve only seen him cry once before this but he made up for all of that today. He loves her, and he doesn’t know what happened and he really wants her to forgive him, even though he doesn’t think that she will.”, Nick said.
“I can’t believe it. If I hadn’t seen it, I wouldn’t believe that it had happened.”, I said, putting my head in my hands.
“Is she ok?”, AJ asked, referring to Leighanne.
“Um..yeah, I guess, she’s in pure shock right now though.”, I said, raising my head out of my hands, “What was he going to say to her?”
“I dunno, I guess why he did it, that he knows that it wasn’t right and he will never do it again, how sorry he is....I guess.”, Kevin said, he too seemed to be in shock, he never expected that his cousin would do something like this.
“You guys, we shouldn’t be sitting here worrying about it. Right now it’s between Leighanne and Brian, we all know that he would never do anything like that ever again, to anyone.”, Howie said, trying to make everyone feel a little better.
“Yeah, Howie, you’re right! Let’s go down to the venue and start practicing, Brian can come down when he’s ready!”, Nick said standing up.
Everyone agreed, so we all stood up. We walked past the kitchen where Leighanne and Brian were talking, I gave them a sympathetic smile, but kept walking. Howie got Kat from her bunk, and I got Candy, then we all walked down to the venue together.
When we got there no one was really in the mood to practice, so we all just sat around the stage talking. Except for Kat who was somewhere else. She was changing tour buses today, thank god. I just couldn’t believe that she would do something like that to AJ, and to me. I didn’t hate her or anything, but it was weird being around her.
“Mandy?”, Nick asked looking down at me.
“Oh, sorry, what?”, I asked, pulling myself out of my trance.
“Brian’s here, so we’re gonna get started.”, he said, as he pulled me up to my feet. When I got there, I saw Leighanne packing. I figured that this would happen. I walked up behind her and pulled her into a hug.
“We’re just taking a break for a while. No dating other people, but not being with one another. We’ll see how we feel when the tour is over.”, she said sadly.
“Is that what you want?”, I asked letting go of her.
“I dunno Mandy, I’m so confused about our relationship right now, I don’t know what I want!”, she said, sitting down in her bunk and beginning to cry.
“Well, is that what Brian wants?”, I asked putting my arms around her.
“No, he thinks that it’s what I want.”
“Well then tell him that it isn’t. That you don’t know what you want.”
“It’s not that easy Mandy.”, she said.
We didn’t say anymore, we just sat in silence for fifteen minutes. Then Leighanne looked at her watch.
“I have to tell Brian before the concert starts!”, she said jumping up.
I gave her a hug before she ran off. In my opinion she had made the right decision. Leighanne and Brian were too much in love for them to take a break even if they weren’t going to date anyone else. I decided to go to the concert too. So I grabbed a jacket and left. When I got there I saw Brian and Leighanne hugging and then knew for sure that it was the right decision. I smiled at Brian, but looked around for Nick. When I didn’t find him backstage I checked the dressing room, and sure enough there he was, crying his eyes out.
“Nicky what’s wrong?”, I asked wrapping my arms around him.
“B..b..rian.”, he whispered through his tears.
“What about him?”, I asked wiping away his tears.
“He hates me.”, he said, still whispering.
“Aw...Nick, he doesn’t hate you.”, I said, bringing him closer to me and placing his head in my lap.
“Yeah he does, the last time we talked without yelling at each other was like two weeks ago.”, he said.
After that we didn’t talk, I held him while he cried. I knew that Brian wasn’t the only reason that he was so upset. He missed his family a lot. Tomorrow was Aaron and Angel’s birthday, and he couldn’t be there for them.
“Only three more weeks Nick. You’ve made it this far, you can make it the rest of the way.”, I said, kissing him on top of his head.
“I’ll try.”, he said, sitting up and wiping his eyes, “Thanks Mandy.”, he said kissing me softly on the lips.
“Just because we’re going out doesn’t mean that we can’t still be best friends.”, I said.
Nick just smiled in response, and we left the dressing room hand in hand.
***Nick’s Point of View***
Mandy was right. Even though she was my girlfriend, she could still be my best friend, and we could still be there for each other. That just made me love her, and our relationship, even more. I stopped walking, and turned her to face me. I leaned down, and kissed her softly but passionately. When we pulled away, I looked into her eyes.
“I love you Amanda Leigh Littrell.”, I couldn’t help but call her by her full name.
“And I love you, Nickolas Gene Carter.”, she said, as we kissed again.
I smiled as we pulled apart, and we kept walking. I looked at my watch and saw that I had to get changed and into makeup quickly.
“Damn, I gotta go, I’ll see you after the show?”, I asked.
“Yup, see ya!”, she said, as we kissed quickly.
I ran off to makeup and they just quickly re-did my hair. I thought they were gonna attack me with real makeup, but I guess I was too late for that. I made a mental note to myself to remember to be late more often. Then they sent me off to wardrobe. AJ was the only person left, surprise, surprise. He always had to make sure that he looked good.
“Hey!”, he said, adjusting his outfit.
“Damn AJ, you look fine!”, I said, quickly pulling on my outift.
“No I don’t! God, I’m sick of having these theighs!”, he mimicked, sounding like a valley girl.
“I know! I hate my chicken legs!”, I mimicked back, as we left wardrobe and went to the area where we were supposed to wait until we went out there.
Brian, Howie, and Kevin were already waiting out there. I prepared for a lecture from either Kevin or Brian, who seemed to picking up on my every flaw lately, but neither of them said anything. Strangely, Brian came up to me and gave me a hug.
“I heard you and my sister talking, and now I know that you really love her, and didn’t mean to hurt her. I’m sorry that I acted like that.”, he said softly so no one else would hear.
“It’s okay Frick.”, I said hugging him back.
Brian just smiled, knowing he was forgiven for sure since I had used his nickname. Then we got the cue to get out on the stage. We entered the stage and put on a pretty good show. Brian seemed a little emotional during love songs, but who wouldn’t be in his position? Leighanne had forgiven him, and she was staying, I was so happy for him. I could tell that Brian was going to ask her to marry him soon, like within the next couple of months. They had been going out for a while, since “As Long As You Love Me”, came out, and that been their only big fight since they’ve been together.
“Hey man, it’s time to leave the stage...”, Brian whispered casually in my ear, as he began to exit the stage.
“Oh..”, I said back, and smiled as I left the stage, “Well that was smart!”, I said once we were off the stage.
“We all make mistakes Nicky!”, Mandy said while giving me a big hug.
“Some just more than other...”, AJ said slyly while walking past us.
“Don’t start with me AJ...”, I growled, “Or else I’ll have to get my killer dog to attack you!”, I said while shoving Candy in his face, but she immediately started licking AJ.
“The day Candy attacks someone...”, AJ said taking her from me, “Will be the day that Nick puts on a perfect show with no mistakes.”, he said running off right as he finished.
“I’ll be right back!”, I said, kissing Mandy quickly and running after AJ.
I assumed that he was going to the Meet and Greet room, and I was right. But they’re were too many people there for me to kick his ass good. So I just sat next to him trying to intimate him. He just smiled, and went back to talking to the girl he was talking to her. I laughed at him, because he was so trying to get a date. I turned to face the person next to me, and surprisingly it was someone I knew...
“What in the world, are you doing here?”, I asked.
“I’m here to see Mandy, why else would I be here?”, the person said back.
“She hates you, why would she want to see you?”, I said back, I hated this person too.
“I really don’t believe that she hates me, I mean she might be really mad at me right now, but she wouldn’t throw away all those years that we had together...”, the person said, beginning to soften.
“If she doesn’t hate you then why hasn’t she talked to you?”, I asked.
I ended the conversation at that. This was a time for fans, and I should be talking to them. I signed a few autographs, took a few pictures, and I had a really good conversation with one girl. She was like 15, and totally respected the fact that I had a girlfriend, that even though I was her favorite, she didn’t care because I was her favorite BSB because of my voice and talent, not because of my looks. She was really sweet, so I took her address so the next time I was around we could catch up or something. By that time just about everyone had left except for that stupid person. At least I was the only one who had realized who it was. I rolled my eyes, and then left the room, but of course they followed me.
“Don’t tell Mandy!”, they said.
“Of course I’m gonna tell her!”, I said, going into the game room, and quickly slamming the door in their face.
Everyone was there except for AJ who was still hitting on that girl. I sat next to Mandy kissed her quickly, but I knew I had to tell her.
“Mandy....”
