Just Friends: Chapter 17

***Mandy’s Point of View***

“Nick...”, I called to a sleeping Nick.

It was about two o’clock in the morning, but I needed to talk to him. It was about tonight. Nothing had happened, we had just gone back to the hotel room and gone to sleep. I had to tell him how much I loved him, but that I wasn’t going to be ready for anything serious for a while. It doesn’t sound that important, but to me, it is.

“Nick...”, I called again, this time shaking his arm a little.

He groaned, but opened his eyes.

“Yeah?”, he said groggily.

“Nick, I’m sorry about tonight. I know you had this all planned, and I guess that I kind of ruined it. And I really love you, a lot, but I’m, not going to be ready to do anything serious for a while.”

“Mandy, it’s okay, you don’t have to keep on apologizing. I don’t think I’m going to be ready for a while. There’s no need to apologize for not being ready to sleep with me.” he said sitting up.

I smiled at him, and kissed him, and then we went back to sleep. I fell asleep quickly, having that out of the way. We could sleep late, because we still had one more day off, thankfully.

Later That Day:

“Wanna go to the mall?”, I asked.

Me and Nick had woken up about an hour ago at one o’clock, and now we were dressed, with no where to go. Everyone else just wanted to stay in the hotel room, but we wanted to go out.

“Sure! I have to buy something for Aaron and Angel for their birthday. I feel so bad I’m not gonna be home for their birthday.”

“I have to get them something too. You wanna take the van, or call a cab?”, I asked, grabbing my bag, and stuffing things in.

“We can just take the van.”, Nick said taking his wallet, and putting on a pair of sunglasses.

“Alright, let’s go!”, I said.

We walked out the door, and went down to the van. We headed to the mall, which wasn’t that far. But we missed the exit, so it took us a little longer than it should have.

When we got there we had lunch first, since both of us were starving and then shopped around for an hour or two looking for something for Aaron and Angel. Both of us were stumped, and ended up not buying anything. We went into a pet store, and I saw the cutest little labrador puppy that I wanted to get for them, but Nick said that his mom and dad were already planning on getting them a dog. So we left the mall unsuccessfully.

“Wait, I wanna get something to drink, why don’t you just wait in the van?”, Nick said just as we were about to leave.

“Okay!”, I said not thinking anything of it, and walking out to the van.

I sat in the car for about fifteen minutes wondering what was taking Nick so long, then someone knocked on the window. I turned and saw Nick holding the little puppy I had saw before. I couldn’t believe he had bought it for me.

“Here you go!”, Nick said holding out the puppy to me when he came into the van.

“Nick, oh my god, I can’t believe this!”, I said holding the puppy, “Thank you so much!”, I added leaning over to kiss him.

“I figured you wouldn’t mind having her for yourself.”, he said pulling out of the mall.

The puppy was so cute, and the whole ride it was licking my face, and trying to get onto Nick’s lap.I was thinking the whole way back to the hotel what to call him, and couldn’t think of anything. Nick wanted to call her Killer, but I didn’t think that was the best name.

“What abour Candy?”, I asked as we pulled up in front of the hotel.

“I guess...if you want it to have a girly name!”, Nick said laughing, as he took her from me.

“Well, Candy it is!”, I said, “We have to go show everyone!”

We went up to the floor, that we basically had to ourselves, and went to our room. I called everyone, and just told them to meet in our room. They all asked why, but I just told them to come down.

When everyone was there, I took Candy out of the bathroom.

“She’s so cute!”, Kat and Leighanne gushed, as Candy quickly jumped into their laps.

“This is why you brought us down here?”, Howie and Kevin snorted.

“Yes...”, I said, “You know she’s adorable!”, I said picking her up and pushing her in Kevin and Howie’s face.

Howie and Kevin laughed as Candy started licking both of their faces.

“What’s her name?”, AJ asked taking her from me.

“Candy!”, I said as AJ and the puppy played on the floor.

Brian remained silent, and looked kind of upset. I tried to get him to look at me, but he wouldn’t. I shrugged it off, and picked up Candy.

“Okay, you can all go now!”, I said.

Everyone was walking out, but Brian was last. I quickly shut the door, trapping him. We were the only ones there because Nick had left to go practice some dance moves with Kat, who had become Nick’s new dancer, at the venue.

“Why so depressed?”, I asked.

“Because I am.”, Brian said pushing me aside, and leaving the room.

I wondered what was up with him, but didn’t feel like dealing with it right now. So I decided to take Candy for a walk, and stop by the venue to see how Nick was. It was a short walk to the venue, and Candy seemed to enjoy the air. I entered through the back, and walked out on the stage from the back. And what I saw, was something I never thought that I would see.

***Nick’s Point of View***

It was totally uncalled for, and I didn’t even kiss back. Sure I didn’t push her off, but she started it. I pushed Kat off of me, this kiss had gone too far. I loved Mandy, not Kat, and Kat was with AJ.

“Kat, what was...”, I said, but trailed off when I saw Candy running towards me. I looked up and there was Mandy.

She quickly turned around, and ran somewhere. I looked at Kat, but didn’t say anything. I picked up Candy, and ran after Mandy. I was so confused, and I knew I wasn’t going to get out of this one. I ran around the whole backstage area, and couldn’t find her. I went back out on the stage, and Kat was still there.

“What was that Kat?”, I asked, putting Candy down and letting her run around a little.

“I dunno...it felt right.”, she said not looking me in the eyes.

“But you’re with AJ, and I love Mandy. I didn’t even kiss back, and now Mandy is going to hate me forever!”

“I’m sorry Nick, it just felt right.”

I sighed, and picked up Candy. I couldn’t deal with this right now, I had to find Mandy. I went back to the hotel, but Mandy wasn’t in her room. She had taken her stuff with her. I rushed to Brian and Leighanne’s room, but they were completely clueless. I was about to go to AJ, then realized I would have to explain what happened, but he might know something. I walked in, and there was Mandy and AJ sitting on the bed.

“Mandy, let me explain, please!”, I said.

“There’s nothing to explain Nick, it’s over.”, she said picking up Candy who had ran to her as soon as I had gotten in the room.

“No..it’s not, not until I explain.”, I said walking over to her, “AJ, help me here...”, I said looking over at AJ who looked extremely pissed off at me right now, “Okay.”, I said, then walked out the room.

I went to go to Brian’s room, but remembered what I had promised him last night. I sighed, and walked back to my room. I sat down on the bed, and turned on the TV. I wasn’t paying attention, I was thinking what I could do. How could I explain this if Mandy refused to talk to me. We would be on the same tour bus tomorrow, so I guess she couldn’t completely ignore me. Just as I was thinking, there was knock at the door. I opened it, and Kevin was there.

“We gotta move to the tour bus now. They planned it wrong or something, and we have to get going now. So get your stuff together and be on the bus in 15 minutes.”, Kevin said, leaving before I could respond.

I quickly put my stuff together. I was hoping to have the night to think about what I could do, but that wasn’t going to happen. I had my stuff together in 5 minutes, so I headed out there early. I put my stuff in the entertainment room, since I wasn’t going to be sleeping with Mandy. I was just walking out to the kitchen area to get something to drink, when Mandy and AJ walked on the bus.

“Can you guys please give me just five minutes to explain myself?”, I asked with a pleading looking in my eyes.

They looked at each other, and seemed to be talking to each other with their eyes. Then Mandy turned to me, and shook her head no.

“I’m sorry Nick, but you screwed up, and I’m not ready to talk to you.”, she said then walked to her bunk.

“AJ?”, I said pleadingly.

“Sorry Nick.”, he said, as he too walked to his bunk.

I was really screwed right now. As I was walking back to the entertainment room, Kat walked on the bus.

“Can you help me explain this to AJ?”, she asked.

“Kat, you got us both into this, and you should at least get yourself out of it.”, I said, pushing myself past her.

“God Nick, you didn’t even push me off of you, if you really loved Mandy you would have.”, she screamed at me.

“You little bitch! Don’t you ever question my love for Mandy. Thanks to you, I’ve lost the one person that I’ve ever loved, and all you can do is ask me to help you solve things with AJ. Talking to you has been the biggest mistake I ever made!”, I screamed before going into the entertainment room.

As I slammed the door shut I heard Kat crying, and AJ telling her that I was right. I guess AJ had moved to my side now, but what I really needed was Mandy on my side. I laid down on the couch, thinking what I could do to get her back. I must have been thinking about it for hours, and I still had nothing. I realized I hadn’t had dinner, and it was now about ten o’clock. I walked outside to the kitchen, and looked around for something to eat. I sat down to make myself a sandwich, when Brian walked in.

“I thought you could keep promises.”, was all he said, and then walked out.

I debated whether or not I should explain what had really happened. I decided not to. I would just wait until tomorrow. I quickly ate my sandwich, then headed back to my room to think. Just as I was all out of ideas, I had the most brilliant idea. I quickly turned on the light, and started working on it right away. If this didn’t work, then I was officially screwed.
