Just Friends: Chapter 16
***Mandy's Point of View***
One Week Later (Mandy’s Birthday):
“Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday dear Mandy, Happy birthday to you!”, the guys, Leighanne, and Kat sang to me.
They had woken me up and served me birthday pancakes. It was my birthday, I was finally 19.
“Thanks guys!”, I said digging into my pancakes.
“Anything for you!”, AJ said while giving me a hug.
“We’ll let you eat. I know Nick wants to take you out tonight, but before that we’re going to Disney Land!”, Brian said, “So hurry up, and we’ll meet downstairs at 9 o’clock.”
Everyone left the room except for me and Nick of course. Nick sat down on the bed next to me, and fed me the rest of my pancakes. When I was done he pushed aside the plate and kissed me nineteen times, and then one for good luck.
“Just getting you ready for tonight!”, he said when he was done.
I just purred in response, and went to take a shower. As I took a shower I remembered back to what had happened last week. I felt horrible thinking about that. Luckily, I didn’t have to get my stomach pumped, but I vomitted a lot. I had talken to Larissa, who apologized, but I said I wasn’t ready to accept it, which was true. I also wasn’t ready to talk about it, it would have caused too much stress, and the doctor said to stay away from that. I was going to wait until after my birthday to talk to her about it.
“Hurry up!”, Nick said banging on the door.
I quickly grabbed a towel, and turned off the shower.
“Done!”, I announced walking out of the shower.
“Good!”, Nick said shoving me aside and getting into the shower.
‘He better watch himself, or else nothing is happening tonight!’, I thought to myself.
I sifted through one of my bags looking for something to wear. I was looking for a pair of board shorts, and a blue tank top. After some searching I found them and quickly changed. I was drying my hair when Nick came out of the shower. He looked at me and smiled, and brought his clothes into the bathroom to change. I laughed at him as he walked into the bathroom. A couple of minutes later he emerged, wearing long khaki shorts, and a white wife-beater with a plaid collared t-shirt over it.
“You look nice!”, I said as we got ready to leave.
“You do too!”, he said putting his arm around my waist and walking out the door.
We got downstairs, and everyone was already there.
“Finally!”, Kevin said with a sigh while putting his arm around my shoulder, “Just because it’s your birthday doesn’t mean you can be late!”, he said with a laugh.
We got into the van, and drove to Disney Land. It was a short drive, and we got there very quickly. We parked, and entered the park really quickly.
“Where do we wanna go first?”, Kat asked everyone.
“Food!”, AJ said rubbing his stomach.
“But honey, we just ate!”, Kat said.
“Fine, I guess I’ll wait!”, AJ said with a pout as we all laughed.
“Well, there’s a lot of good rides in this direction!”, Nick said pointing to the left, “Why don’t we start walking in that direction.”
We all agreed and started walking. AJ, Nick and Brain were leading the way, while me, Leighanne, and Kat were in the middle, and Howie and Kevin in the back.
“I can’t believe your 19 already!”, Leighanne said squeezing me in a hug, “I’ll never forget my 19th birthday.”
“Why?”, Kat asked.
“I...um...lost my virginity that night...”, she answered, turning birght red.
“Really?”, I said a little too enthusastically, causing everyone to look at me.
Leighanne and Kat laughed, while everyone else gave me weird looks, and turned back around.
“Why so excited?”, Leighanne and Kat said at the same time.
“Well, I think that might happen to me.”, I whispered.
“Oh my god!!”, Leighanne and Kat both said, once again causing everyone to turn around.
“What are you people talking about?”, Nick asked curiously.
“Nothing!”, I said turning bright red.
I quickly picked up my pace, and walked with Nick, Brian, and AJ. I didn’t want anyone to figure out what we were talking about. I left Kat and Leighanne very confused, and looking at each other.
“Hey babe!”, Nick said placing his arm around my waist.
I just smiled in response. All of a sudden I was really nervous. I thought maybe it was about tonight, but that was going to happen in such a long time.
“Look!”, AJ and Brian shouted at the same time.
It looked like this awesome roller coaster. It ws half inside in complete darkness, and the other half was outside.
“Let’s go!”, we all said in unison, running to the line.
It was a long line and it went quickly. Me and Nick passed the time by making out. We usually weren’t that public because of all the fans, but it was my birthday. And tonight was going to be really special.
***Nick’s Point of View***
A Few Hours Later:
“I’m wiped out!”, I said putting my arm around Mandy while sitting down on a bench.
“Me too!”, everyone said in unison.
“Do you wanna get going?”, Brian asked.
We all agreed and headed out to the van. I looked over at Mandy, and knew what was going to happen tonight was going to be amazing. I leaned down, and kissed her lightly on the lips.
“What was that for?”, she asked, stepping into the van.
“Being you.”, I said sitting next to her.
The ride home was a little longer than it was going there because Kevin was a slow driver. We got to the hotel at around 5 o’clock. I had dinner reservations for me and Mandy at 7 o’clock, and a suite in the hotel reserved. Me and Mandy walked up to the room together.
“What should I wear tonight?”, Mandy asked falling against the bed.
“Something dressy, but not too dressy.”, I said.
She sighed as she sat up.
“Take your stuff and go to Brian’s room. I don’t want you to see me.”, she said pushing me out the door.
I managed to grab my suitcase before the door slammed. The last time I left her alone she had needed a trip to the emergency room, but I knew she wouldn’t do that again. I went next door to Brian’s room, and went to knock, but saw it was opened. I let myself in, and walked in on Brian and Leighanne obviously in the middle of something. They quickly seperated as soon as they heard me enter.
“What are you doing here?”, Brian asked with a bit of an attitude.
“Mandy kicked me out. She’s getting ready.”, I said sitting down in front of the TV and pulling out the Nintendo.
“Really? I better get over there!”, Leighanne said quickly grabbing makeup off the table and rushing out.
“Girl thing!”, me and Brian said in unison.
I started playing, but then Brian stepped in front of the TV, blocking my view.
“C’mon Brian, move!”, I said getting agitated quickly.
“No, we need to talk.”, he said turning off the Nintendo.
I sighed but walked over to the bed and sat down.
“Yes?”, I said impatiently.
“Now don’t think I’m stupid. I know you and Mandy are hot for each other, and you rented a suite. And after talking with Leighanne, I am okay with it. But if you hurt her emotionally, I swear I will kill you!”, Brian said totally seriously.
“Of course I won’t hurt her. I love her!”, I said.
“I know, just making sure.”, he said.
I looked down at my watch and saw it was 6:20. I figured we had to leave at a quarter to seven, so I knocked next door and told Mandy she had 25 more minutes. I went back next door and got ready myself. I didn’t need a shower, because I had taken one this morning. So I looked through my bag for something to wear. I decided on a pair of khaki’s, and a long sleeved dark green collared shirt. I brushed my hair back, and gelled it. The way Mandy liked it. I put on some cologne, and quickly shaved. Managing not to cut myself. I walked out of the bathroom, and the room was empty. I shrugged and walked next door. The door was open, and I heard a lot of voices. I walked in, and saw all the guys sitting on the bed.
“Hey Nick! You look nice!”, Howie said as I joined them.
“They’re in there.”, AJ said pointing to the bathroom.
We started talking, and I looked down at my watch and saw it was 6:45. I was about to tell Mandy to hurry up, when Leighanne and Kat walked out of the bathroom, followed by Mandy. She looked really amazing. She was wearing a long black skirt, with a slit on the side up to her mid-thiegh, with a light blue tube top, with a matching shrug. Her hair was on the top of her head in a messy bun. And she had on very little makeup. She looked natural, the way I loved her.
“Ready?”, she said after a few seconds, letting me get the full effect.
“Yup!”, I said shaking myself out of my trans.
“See you later!”, Mandy said as I took her hand.
“You look really, really great!”, I said taking a second look.
“Thanks, you don’t look too bad yourself!”, she said.
We got on the elevator and headed outside. I had rented a limo for the night, and it was waiting for us. We got into the limo, and started driving.
“Nick, you really didn’t have to do so much!”, she said.
“Don’t worry about it! It was nothing.”, I said, it really wasn’t though.
“I’m so glad I’m spending my birthday with you.”, she said resting her head on my shoulder.
“Me too!”, I said placing my arm around her shoulders pulling her closer to me.
The rest of the ride was silent. Our body language said enough. When we got there, I led her into the restaurant. It was a small italian place. There was outdoor seating, and it was on the beach. We waited at the front, and then we were seated.
“Nick this is beautiful!”, she said looking around.
The whole deck was covered with lights and candles. We were the only ones there, and the sun was setting. The waiter came and brought us menus.
“Have whatever you want. Don’t worry about the price.”, I said, knowing Mandy was that type of person.
She looked up at me and smiled. That smile.... “Alright.”, she said reading the menu and biting her lip.
She only bit her lip when she was nervous. I was nervous too. A couple of minutes that waiter took our order. We both ordered, and then we talked for a little while until our food came. An hour later we were done, and getting ready to leave. The sun still hadn’t set yet.
“Wait here!”, I said to Mandy leaving her standing on the beach.
“Where are you going?”, she asked, but I had already ran off.
I was going to the limo to get a blanket and candles I had packed. I ran back to the beach and saw Mandy with her back to me facing the ocean.
“Close your eyes.”, I said.
“Okay.”, she said closing them and turning towards me.
I spread out the blanket, and lit the candles and placed them around the blanket. I took Mandy’s hand and led her to the blanket.
“You can open them now.”, I said letting go of her hand.
“Nick, I love you so much.”, she said, with a huge smile on her face.
I smiled in response, and we sat down together. We didn’t talk, we just sat. We were holding hands and her head was resting on my shoulder. We sat for about an hour. Then when the sun had been done for about a half an hour, we got ready to leave.
“Do you wanna go?”, I asked looking down at her.
“Okay.”, she said nervously.
“We don’t have to do anything when we get to the hotel room tonight. I don’t want you to be nervous, or feel like you’re being forced into this.”, I said making sure I looked her in the eyes, so she knew I was being sincere. “Okay, then we won’t do anything. I don’t want this to be pressured.”, I said, wrapping her in my arms.
I was a little realived that she had said that. I wasn’t too sure that I was ready yet either.
“Are you sure?”, she asked.
“Of course.”, I said.
We walked back to the limo. And when we got to the hotel we just fell asleep in each others arms. Neither of us would be ready for a while.
