Just Friends: Chapter 1

Just Friends: Chapter 1

***Mandy’s Point Of View***

“C’mon Nick! Hurry up! You’re going to be late!”, I shouted from the kitchen. “If Nick doesn’t hurry up you and him are going to be late for your shoot, and I don’t think that will go over well”, I said to my brother, Brian.

“You sound like mom”, Brian said, rolling his eyes.

“NIC-”, I began to scream but I was cut off by Nick covering my mouth.

“Geez Mandy, calm down!”, Nick said letting go of me.

“Sorry Nick, I just don’t want you guys to be late!”, I said giving him a hug. He’s such a great friend to me I thought.

“Yeah right, more like you don’t want to be late for your date which me and Nick are dropping you off at”, added Brian, knowing I didn’t want Nick to know.

I could feel the tension growing already between me and Nick. Why is it so awkward for us to date people? We never went out with each other or anything. Maybe we should, maybe we do have feelings for each other, no, neither of us have feelings for the other one.

“Brian!, I said, thinking to myself how much I was gonna kick his ass when I got home.

“Who are you going out with Mandy?”, Nick asked with a hint of sadness in his voice.

“Um..well..uh..Jake.”

Why did Brian have to open his big mouth? He knows that Jake and Nick hate each other, and that I didn’t want Nick to know. God, he can be such an asshole sometimes. I thought while giving Brian my evil eye.

“Oh, okay. Mandy’s right Frick, lets go”, Nick said, avoiding looking at me, and with anger in his voice.

Oh boy, Nick is pissed off. But Jake is such a nice guy, I don’t know why they don’t get along. Actually, they really don’t have a reason for hating each other, they just do, I thought as I walked out to the car.

Brian dropped me off at the mall where I was meeting Jake. I gave Brian a hug and thanked him, even though I was pissed off at him, it was still nice of him to give me a ride. I said bye to Nick and gave him a quick hug. My only response was silence, and not even a glance in my direction.

***Nick’s Point Of View***

“God! Out of all the guys she has to pick him!”, I whined to Brian.

I can’t believe she did that to me. Even though I don’t like her as anymore than as friend it was still wrong!

“You know how much I hate him, why didn’t you say something to her! How could she do that to me!!!!!!”

“Nick, she’s 18, she can do what she wants! I’m sure Mandy didn’t mean to hurt you! Besides it’s only a date, she told me she didn’t really like the guy! Frack, why don’t you just tell her you have feelings for her? I’m almost positive those feeling will be returned!”, Brian said, preparing for what was going to happen next.

“I DO NOT HAVE FEE.....”, I began to scream but my screams were interrupted by Brian’s cell going off.

“Hello?,” Brian said.

“Hey B-Rok, where are you guys?”, I heard AJ ask.

“We’re on our way, I had to drop Mandy off on a date.”

“Oh, okay, see ya!”

“Bye Bone!”

Brain shut off his cell, “So are you nervous?”, Brian asked.

“No man, just another video, I answered, knowing he was just changing the subject.

How could he think that I had feelings for Mandy! Just because I’m upset because she’s dating the one guy I hate, doesn’t mean I have feeling for her, does it?

Brian turned on the radio, and Larger Than Life blared out of the speakers.

“Hey, I didn’t know this was on the radio yet!”, Brain said, looking pretty excited.

“Yo, Bri, where you been?”

“I dunno.”

“Too busy with Leighanne? Is it really serious?”, I asked.

Leighanne seemed really nice, and she was really pretty, but I didn’t think she was right for Brian.

“I dunno man, I mean I know my feelings are real, but I dunno about her”, Brian said while pulling into a parking space.

“Do we got to pick up Mandy on the way home?”, I asked as we walked into the video shoot, hoping the answer was no. I was still really pissed off.

Brian didn’t get a chance to answer before we were trampled by MTV people. Do they have to follow us everywhere, I thought, as me and Brian answered all their questions. These are pretty simple I thought, until one reporter asked another question. “Is it true you and Brian’s sister Mandy are romantically involved?”

I was shocked by the question. I didn’t even know people knew me and Mandy spent any time together. After a few seconds of silence I answered.

“No, we’re not romantically involved, I’m single, but me and her are best friends”, I answered as I got back to my normal self and smiled while looking at the camera, “I’m single and looking, and have no problem dating a fan!”

I don’t have a problem dating a fan, but I don’t know if I was looking for a girlfriend right now.
