LARS:He was born February 18, 1845 in Hvalso, Sjaelland, Denmark. He died 1916 and is buried in the Turkey Valley Baptist Cemetery, So. Dakota. His parents were Jens Thonnesen Jensen and Marie Jendsdatter. At this time we have no information on his parents. He married August 1883 in Daneville, South Dakota to Kjersten Marie MONK (THOMSEN). [Note: At this time we are unsure which name is correct.] She was born October 1861 on a farm near Sindal in North Jutland, Norway. She died February 22, 1959 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and is buried in the Turkey Valley Baptist Cemetery, S. Dakota. She was the daughter of Thomas Christensen and Christine (CHRISTENSDATTER) THOMSEN.

The following was from their Granddaughter, Clara (Jensen) Webb:
Lars and Marie homesteaded land west and south of Viborg. Their first home was a dug-out. During the first winter some relatives
came in their sled to see how they were doing. The drifts were so high that the visitors drove right over the dug-out; fortunately the horses did not break through! After the first crop of corn had been harvested Lars found that the price was so low that it was not worth taking to market so they burned their excess as fuelfor heating and cooking. Since trees were nearly nonexistent he had to make a trip to the river near Yankton to cut trees for fuel. 11 Children Mathilda, Helena, James C., Anna, John, Thomas, Alfred, Charles O., Esther N., Harry, and Alvin

Mathilda: She was born 1882 and died 1975. She married Paul JENSEN. No other info. on this family.

Helena: She was born 1885 and died in 1990. She married Jens MILLER. No other info. on this family.

James Chris: He was born November 24, 1886 in Turner Co., South Dakota. For further info on this family go to their page.

Anna: She was born 1887 and died in 1971. She married Adolph CHRISTENSEN. No other info. on this family.

John: He was born in 1889 and died in 1965. There is no other information on this child......................

Thomas: He was born in 1891 and died in 1936. There is no other information on this child.....................

Alfred: He was born November 07, 1893 in Turner Co., South Dakota. He died in 1978. No other info. on this child.

Charles Otto: He was born November 17, 1898 in Turner Co., South Dakota. He died in 1963. No other info. on this child.

Esther Nina: She was born March 15, 1900 in Turner Co., South Dakota. She died in 1987. She married Alfred HENNINGSEN.

Harry: He was born in 1903 and died in 1989. No other information on this child...................................
