How Did Computer Animation Come About?

In order for computer animation to be possible at all, many people had to contribute to developing techniques for creating animations. Thomas Edison started his research in 1887 for motion pictures. Many ideas sprang from his concepts leading eventually to Ken Knowlton's development of computer techniques for producing animated movies in 1964. Computer Animation can be done on a variety of computers ranging from PC's to SGI's. Along with this a good software package is needed for animation. Among the hundreds on the market the most popular are 3D studio, Elastic Reality, and Adobe Premier. There is now a great industry in Computer Animation. There is a need for more stunning animation for TV to keep viewers glued to the screen. There is also a high demand for Computer Animation in many fields. Some of these fields are: Film, Television, Stimulation, the Military, and Multimedia.
