A list of my favorite Goddess'



Aeval (Irish): A Faery Queen of South Western Munster...In her realm a debate was sparked on wheter the men were fulfilling the women's sexual needs. At her Midinight Court she heard both sides and decreed the men inept and sentenced them to accede the womens needs and to overcome their prudeness*

Bean Si (ban-shee; Irish): More traditionaly presented she is the messanger of Death. Her eyes fiery red from continual weeping. She wails "Ulululu" the cry of Death. Anyone who hers her cry is said to be the next to die*

Black Annis (Irish): She was said to be a Cannibalistic Hag. Possessing a blue face and iron claws. She supposedly dug out her cave in the Dane HIlls of Leicesteshire with her own claws. There was a tree in front of the cave that she would hide in and leap out and devour stray children*

The Black Virgin (Irish): Goddess worshipped by the Dryadesses of Sena on the Isle D'e Sein. One of their major religious sites later became the Chartres Cathedral*

Eadon (Irish): Goddess of poetry and inspiration*

Ernmas (Irish): Literally means murder; Mother of Morrigu*

Freyja (Norse):

Gaia (All): Mother of us all, The Creatrix, Mother Earth

Hathor: Goddess of fertility, inebriaty, and music

Kali-Ma (eastern Indian): Goddess of birth and destruction, She creates worlds and crushes them between her thighs

Nyx (Greek): The Goddess of night and chaos

Scathach (Irish): War Goddess and prophetess from Alba [Scotland], who taught Cu Chulainn the Martial Arts and whose name literally means The Woman who Strikes Fear*

Uathach (Irish): Was teh daughter of Scathach, became Cu Chulainn's lover. Her name means literally The Very Terrible*
