After flying my first 4star40 for a while the only thing I did not like was the high wing loading so I found someone how could build me a 4 star 40 lighter. Bob Benton sold me this plane ARC and built it about 10oz lighter than my stock setup. With the lighter frame I decided to keep the weight down even more with less batteries. So with a Hacker B50 13S motor geared 6.7-1, Jeti 40amp ESC, 2 Hitec HS-85 servos, one Hitec HS-225 servo for ailerons, Hitec superslim receiver, 270mh receiver battery, and 12 CP2400 batteries I came out with a very light plane with UNLIMITED VERTICAL PERFORMANCE and low wing loading.
I am still trying to get the right combination of transparent covering for good visibility. The white did not come out like I was hoping and is difficult to see in the air. Bob swapped almost all the ply for balsa and designs his own landing gear he also designed a neat battery box that lets the battery eject on a hard landing without damaging the plane. Bob is a great resource for people without time to build or for people like me how can't seem to build anything light. Bob has a few different types of planes he builds for sale if you are interested in seeing his work check out his web site at: |
