I am not proud of what the first English troops did, but I accept that it is history. I can not change it. I AM proud of my ancestors, who suffered, lived, worked and finally prospered in Van Demons Land.
I lived in New South Wales (NSW) for about 5 years .. single and loved it!! Sydney is an amazing city, rich with history, culture and ethnic variety. For Australians, Sydney is the meca of diversity and fun. It is also a State rich in History and variety. I promise anyone who comes to the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, they will be greeted with warmth and humour and if they have the time and inclination to explore, they will find a great deal of 'what makes Australia, Australia'.
The 'Rocks' in Sydney is one of the most famous places in Aus .... and sure one of my favourite places!! Many a good day/night has been spent at the Rocks. The Rocks is the age old 'suburb' that is under the south side of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and right next to where the Sydney Opera House was built. The short stretch (maybe 200 metres) between the extremities of 'The Rock's' and the Opera House is paved with wonders .... buskers and magicians - anything and everything entertaining. 'Tis a wonder ..................
enjoy your 'walkabout'.
