The sad fate of the mines in Tanzania has been known for sometime now.
Currently, there are no plans to resume mining, and the price of almost
all Tanzanite has skyrocketed. If you are fortunate enough to own one, then
hang on to it. If buying one does not fit into your budget, then here is a wonderful
alterntive.
The simulated Tanzanite that we offer is a laboratory synthesized polysilicate,
using high temperature flux technology on a quartz base (50 - 60%). This looks and feels exactly like
gem tanzanite!
Tanzanite has something called "perfect cleavage" with a hardness of only 6 on the Mohs
scale. What does this mean to you? It means that one good accidental whack and your thousand
dollar per carat stone is history!! Why take the chance? We set these breathtaking stones in gold and diamonds
quite frequently...and chances are the color of these simulated stones will be far better than
your genuine stone!! They have a hardness of 6.0 to 6.5...and if you damage it, it is far more easily
replaceable that the genuine article!! They look so very real, that who will know?
