    The Casting Site

  • I finally clicked the View Notices Icon icon at The Casting Site the other day and was so delighted and excited that I thought I'd share what I found there with you. (Notice that I received a free annual membership a while back from these folks. I receive no income from them for posting this information.)
  • . This photo has nothing to do with anything on this page. I just like it because I'm under 210lbs in it!

  • As a dues paying member after you click the "View Notices" icon, you'll witness quite a list of notices for cast and crew for film, live-work, commercials and some theater. Preceding each notice there is a check box. All you've got to do is click this "Submit" check box, press the "Submit Query" button on the bottom of the page and your head shot and resume (posted at The Casting Site) will be emailed to the person at the production in charge of filling the position that's been posted.
  • The way the software is set up you can't accidentally send your head shot and resume more than once in reply to the same production notice. This prevents us thespians from looking like morons and keeps the productions open to receiving resumes from The Casting Site, because they know they won't be swamped with twenty head shots from the same person for the same production! Some of you do that, I understand.
  • After you click a notice check box and scroll down to the bottom of the page and push the "Submit your resume and head shot" icon, the check box beside the notice will be erased so you cannot submit more than once to the same notice even if you wanted to. In addition, the next time you pull up the "Notices" page you will see RED messages displaying the date you sent your head shot to each notice.
  • For $3.33 per month ($40.00 annually) this service is quite a bargain. I pay $9.95 per month for my Backstage.com membership. When I used to advertise for my one-man health insurance business I spent easily $40 per weekend getting my name and face out and about.
  • Below is what an actual posting to the "Notices" board at The Casting Site looks like:
