12 Angry Actors, Arizona Republic
Arizona Republic/Phoenix Gazette newspaper publicity photo of 'Twelve Angry Men' published December 2nd, 1992. This was the first play I was ever in. Apparently, Bob Walters, the director, had a few actors quit after they'd been cast and needed to replace them quickly. I was suggested to Bob by another director, because at an audition at Theater Works, thirty miles away, I had written down that I could act "angry". Go figure!

Cast members construct the set, which consisted of a few flats, a water cooler, table and chairs. It was absolutely freezing on stage and when the heat-pump rumbled and hissed into life, it drowned out many of our lines. The play was actually set in summer time, so I got my first experience of pretending it was hot when it was not.

Cast Photo:
Only nine of the twelve jurors are shown eating pizza. The entire cast consisted of: Director Bob Walters, Kerry Ellis, Lyman Akers, Kevin Whitaker, Ted Weiss, Eric Jackson, Kenneth Dooley, Francis Duckworth, Dan Pekech, Harry Caplan, Steven Silver, Steve Cheseborough and your Master Thespian (Robert Strupp not shown). At the time, Cheseborough worked for the Arizona Republic newspaper, so I don't want you to think that is why we had a third page write up in it.

Another cast photo, this time with only eight of the jurors shown, the other three are throwing up the pizza and I'm behind the camera. For virtually ever performance, except opening night, the cast outnumbered the audience. The lady in the maroon sweater (whose name I can't recall) played the 'Guard' and the 'Clerk'.
