Posh Spice And Son Targeted By Kidnappers

British press sources are reporting that Spice Girl Victoria Adams and her son Brooklyn were targeted by kidnappers late last year, but the plan was discovered and thwarted by Scotland Yard's organized crime unit before it could be carried out.

The wannabe baby snatchers had reportedly intended to grab the pair while the Posh one's soccer star husband David Beckham played a match at London's Wembley Stadium last November. The police were tipped off by a member of the public after a known criminal was heard bragging about the scheme. Police reportedly moved the family to safe house for two days while the suspects were put under surveillance. According to the "London Times," no arrests were made, because the plot never got past the planning stage and there was no written evidence.

The incident is the latest to be revealed in a rash of stories about celebrities receiving unwanted attention by fans and criminals. Last December, the "London Sun" reported that Adams had sent a fan sprawling in the street after the man had grabbed her baby's arm in an attempt to get a picture as Posh and child left a London department store. Former Beatle George Harrison was stabbed by a deranged fan just before the new year. And in a bizarre instance of fan-foolery, two security personnel guarding access to singer Celine Dion at her New Year's Eve concert in Montreal were attacked by a fan with a stun gun who was trying to get backstage.

In other Posh Spice news, the normally polite (in public, anyway) singer surprised a TV audience in Britain late last week as she made her debut as a talk show host on a program called "Victoria's Secrets." The singer's asides to the camera during an interview with a fashion designer included references to supermodel Naomi Campbell as a "bitch" and a "massive cow." Ouch.
