LET GO

Looking in your eyes,
Sinking into the hazy blue.
Soft and sweet, surrounding me,
Your love wrapping around.

Somewhere, just under the surface,
A great sadness looms.
Knowing our time is running out,
One of us must walk away.

I bathe in your love for me,
Opening my heart to you.
Feeling as if time is paused,
But hearing the tick of the clock.

You reach out for my hand,
Our fingers intertwine.
Almost mesh into eachother,
My flesh, your flesh, as one.

Never before such oneness felt, 
You are inside me, I in you.
I cling to your hands,
Holding on for dear life.

You smile, I loosen my grip,
We dance under the stars,
Your chestnut hair glistens,
Your scent intoxicating,
Oh how lucky I am to love you.

The music begins to fade, 
Our eyes lock once more.
Excitement, Expectation, and love,
I read on your face.
I get scared, sad, and lonely.

You whisper, "Im here with you,
Just close your eyes, I'm there"
I try to protest, you smile.

More sweet words you whisper to me,
"I love you, my Wonderful"
My heart floats and breaks,
The grip loosens between us.

Slowly you back away, smiling so sweetly,
love showing in your eyes.
"I will never leave you" I hear,
Now just fingertips touching.

I whisper, "I love you"
As the tears roll down my face.
I try to keep touching you, 
But have to let go.

Slowly we break contact,
As light beams down on you.
One last smile, blow a kiss.
"Forever, My love" I hear you say,
Yet your lips dont move.

I repeat "Forever"
I watch you turn away,
As the light engulfs you.
I stand there, alone.

Your scent still lingers, 
I'm filled with your love,
I take one last look,
Turn and walk away.

Tomorrow ahead of me, Yesterday in my heart.
I close my eyes, There you are.
As I take that first step, on to the rest of my life,
Knowing love, Keeping you in my heart, 
Walking away, a smile across my face.
