| When Juan hears me coming out of the house he starts whinnying immediately. Sometimes it means: “Help, hurry up, I’m dying!” or “How long do you think I have been waiting here for food, Snailpace!” or “Come down here now and fork out that hay!” | Juan hört mich die Tür öffnen und aus dem Haus kommen. Das veranlaßt ihn zu einem lauten Gewieher. Manchmal heißt das "hilfe, komm schnell, ich bin am verhungern" oder "sag mal wie lange läßt Du mich hier eigentlich noch warten?" oder "jetzt gopfridstutz komm sofort hierher und rück das Heu raus!". |
| Juan does not invest great efforts in opening gates. But if he sees one that is not closed properly, he takes a chance. It could be something eatable out there! This attitude makes it easy to find him though once he escaped. And he will not go far. | Juan gibt sich keine besondere Mühe. Er übersieht aber auch ganz sicher kein nicht-verriegeltes Tor. Es könnte schließlich irgendwo in der entfernteren Umgebung etwas Eßbares sein, was man unbedingt erforschen muß. Da ist er dann auch zu finden. Bestimmt läufter nicht davon. |
| Juan's stormy years are over. He is our baby-sitter now. Even though he does not like beginners (come-on, he's a Star!) he takes good care of them. But if they try to pull at the rains he grabs the bit with his teeth and suddenly pulls back. That causes the rider to bound against the horn with the intestines if he doesn't let go. Sometimes Juan sees things of the 47th kind. At a blow he jerks an gazes scarily at a bush. Don't expect to see anything there... | Juan hat seine Sturm und Drang Zeit hinter sich. Er zeigt zwar deutlich, daß er Anfänger nicht ausstehen kann (er ist für so was einfach zu edel), behandelt sie aber sehr gut. Man darf nur nicht an den Zügeln rupfen. Dann passiert es nämlich, daß er urplötzlich den Kopf nach vorne reißt und jeder, der die Zügel nicht locker in den Fingern hat, knallt mit den Eingeweiden aufs Sattelhorn. Außerdem hat er Wahrnehmungen der 47. Art. Manchmal zuckt er urplötzlich zusammen und schaut völlig erschrocken irgendwo ins Gemüse. Da wird aber nichts zu finden sein... |
| Juan thinks tenderness is something for the weak and young. He's way over it. Grooming is O.K. it's nice to have somebody taking care of itchy coat. That's human's job anyway. He does not move during such procedures and takes the chance for a nap. | Juan findet Zärtlichkeiten unter seinem Niveau. Das ist etwas für Kinder und Schwächlinge. Putzen ist in Ordnung, er hält sehr still, läßt sich absolut alles gefallen, ohne dabei aufzuwachen. |
