What is an SCA / RAID
connector? ![]()
SCA (Single Connector Attachment) is designed for simplifying hard drive connections to hot-swappable RAID (Redundant Array of Independent (or Inexpensive)Disks) systems that are typically used by mission-critical server computers. SCA combines Wide SCSI signals, SCSI ID, and hard drive power connections into a single, compact 80-contact connector.
SCSI hard drives with SCA connectors are often sold at very attractive prices, but they will require an extra adapter
to connect them to non-RAID systems. StarTech offers two adapters
for SCA hard drives; one with termination (AD_11P29),
and one without termination (SCA806850). Hard drives with a grounded SCA-2 connector will require either AD_11P48 (with
termination) or AD_11P34 (without
termination).
