OBITUARY



Isabella Allard, aged 83 years, 3 months and 12 days, died at Gladbrook, Iowa, March 2, 1888, at 12:00 p.m.


The deceased was born in Shefford County, Canada, November 17, 1805. At the age of 15 she united with the Methodist Church. She was married January 12, 1824, to Johnathan Allard who still survives, and was at her bedside when she passed away. To them were born ten children, two of whom died in infancy, one when a young man, and seven of whom are still living to mourn the loss of her who has been a kind and affectionate mother.

Her Christian life began with the Methodists. She afterward united with a people in Canada known as Christian Brethren. About 1864 she united with the Brethren of the Abrahamic faith, or Restitutionists, in which she has always maintained a good Christian character, and many are the times she has expressed her readiness to go with in Jesus. She has been waiting and resting in this blessed hope and it finally came, March 2nd, when she fell

Asleep in Jesus
Blessed sleep
From which none ever
Wake to weep
A calm and undisturbed repose
Unbroken by the dread of foes

In 1861 she with her husband and family moved to Stephenson County, Illinois, where they resided until 1870 when they moved to Tama County, Iowa, where they have resided until the time of her death.

She passed away very suddenly.

Words of comfort were spoken to the friends by the writer from 1st Thes., 4th Chapter, 18th verse: "Wherefore comfort one another with these words."

The remains were interred in the Crystal Cemetary.
