Cassandra opened her eyes and coughed. She had a stabbing pain in her lungs and in her head. When she regained most of her vision, she looked around and noticed that she was in a hospital room. She sat up and gripped the bedside.
"Nick? Nick!" she screamed. "Where are you?"
"Cassandra?" she heard him say. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. Where are you?"
"Keep saying my name and I'll find you." Nick slowly crawled out of his bed, and wrapped a blanket over his shoulders. He could feel and taste the smoke in his lungs. He stumbled out of his room and followed the sound of Cassandra's voice. He opened the door to the room next to his.
"Nick!" she screamed when she saw him. He closed the door and walked over to her. They both smiled and hugged each other and kissed. He looked deeply into her eyes both feeling as if they hadn't seen each other in years. Everything that had happened to them in only the past few weeks, seemed to just disappear.
"Thank you for keeping your promise," Nick whispered.
"I would never break a promise to you," she replied.
"Then make one promise to me. To be mine now and forever."
"Oh Nick, I promise."
"Oh and not to kill anyone else," he teased. She just gave him a look.
Just then, two police officers walked into the room. Nick and Cassandra stood up. Still huddled in the blanket.
"Mr. and Mrs. Carter?" one of them asked.
"Yes?" Nick said.
"We're glad that you're alright but we need to ask you a few questions."
"For one," started the other officer, "do you know who's head was found in the basement?" Nick could feel Cassandra tensing up.
"It was Lucy," said Nick.
"And do you know how it got there?"
"What do you mean?" Cassandra asked. "I pulled on a light string and it fell!"
"Are you sure?"
"Oh come on!" she yelled. "What do you mean, am I sure? I couldn't be more sure! That was the most terrifying experience of my life! Well, except for one," she said and looked up at Nick.
"Is there any way that-"
"Don't fuck with me!" she yelled.
"All we're saying is that either A.J. or someone else was in that house last night. Do you know who it could have been?"
"Well duh!" Cassandra yelled. "Are you fucking mental? How could it have been A.J.? He's dead! Of course it was someone else!"
"Do you know who?"
"Oh yes, I know who it was!" she said sarcastically. She turned to Nick. "Come on Sweetie, let's go home!"
"Don't mess with her," Nick said to the police officers as he followed Cassandra.
The police escorted Nick and Cassandra into her house.
"Nick, Cassie! What happened?" they all said getting up from the couch and rushing over to Nick and Cassandra. Coreene was now back and had just learned about Isabella and A.J.
"We'll explain it," said the police. Nick and Cassandra walked into the kitchen. The police escorted the group into the living room.
"You okay?" Nick asked Cassandra.
"Physically, yes. How about you?" she asked.
"Yeah I'm fine." Nick saw Cassandra's eyes fill up with tears. She blinked and the tears started streaming down her face.
"Nick, we almost died tonight! And we almost broke up. We almost-" She put her hands over her mouth. Nick wrapped his arms around her and held her tight as she cried on his shoulder.
When Nick and Cassandra had both calmed down, they walked out of the kitchen and saw the group with their expressionless faces.
"Oh Cassie!" said Emalia and went to hug her. Cassandra held her hands up.
"No!" Cassandra said. "Just don't touch me. I-I, just don't touch me. I'm going upstairs." She turned, headed upstairs and Nick followed her. She slammed the door. "I am so tired. Look at this, it's two o'clock in the morning-" She heard a knock at the door. "What?"
"Mrs. Carter? This is officer Johnson. I'm going to be stationed outside your room tonight."
"Okay, thank you." Cassandra didn't bother to change her clothes she just crawled into bed. Nick jumped in beside her and put his arms around her. She was still shaking.
"Hey, we're okay," Nick whispered. "We made it. Nothing can pull us apart. You're safe now. I'm here and there are guards right outside the room."
"I know. I just have a feeling that something really bad is going to happen. I-I just can't shake this feeling no matter how hard I try. I know that you're thinking that I shouldn't feel like this and I'm crazy for the thought, but the feeling is so strong, and I can't shake it. Look what we almost did to each other?"
"You know, you're right. You don't need to feel like that, but I don't think you're crazy. You're probably still just scared about what happened to us and so am I. I'm still terrified about it, but look, we're fine now. We're here, we're fine and we're together. And that's how we'll always be."
"Is that a promise?" she asked.
Nick smiled. "Well, yes, I guess it is! We'll always be together, that's a promise. A promise to you."
"How can you be so calm through all of this?"
"You and I have been through our fair share of pain and tragedy and I think that it's time for some good fortune. And don't forget you're promise to me."
"And which one would that be?" she grinned.
"The one that states that you'll be mine now and forever."
"Oh that one. Like that's going to be a hard one to keep!" she laughed. "I dunno what I'd do without you."
"And you'll never have to know." They both closed their eyes and soon fell asleep.
The next day, Coreene walked upstairs at noon and knocked on Cassandra's door.
"You guys hungry at all? Do you guys want anything?" she asked.
"No," she heard Nick say. She turned around and went back downstairs.
"They're not coming out," Coreene said to Kevin.
"They've already been up there for a day. They have to come out eventually."
Nicole, Jonathan, Emalia, and Coreene sat in the living room that night.
"Maybe they really aren't coming out for a while," Kevin said referring to Nick and Cassandra.
"I don't feel like cooking tonight," Coreene said abruptly.
"Me neither," Emalia agreed.
"Maybe we can kill two birds with one stone," said Kevin with a slight grin.
"What are you talking about?" Nicole asked.
"Well," Kevin explained, "if we order pizza tonight, that'll solve our cooking problems, and maybe it'll get Nick and Cassandra out, seeing as how it's their favorite food."
"That's a good idea," Jonathan agreed.
"Yes," said Nicole, "but what kind do we get?"
"How about one plain and one pepperoni?" Kevin suggested. They all agreed. "When should we call?"
"Well," Emalia said, "it's already six thirty, so you should call now." Kevin smiled and stood up and went to the phone.
"You guys," said Coreene, "I'm really worried about my sister. She almost died, one of our sister's already died, and our friend is dead-"
"How are you holding up?" Emalia asked her concerned.
"Not too well." Coreene put her hands up to her face, and began to cry for the first time that anyone had seen. Kevin walked back into the room and saw Coreene crying. He went over to her and gave her a hug.
"Emalia, what's wrong with her?" Kevin asked her.
"Hey, don't act like I had something to do with this-"
"No," said Coreene, "it's just me. So much has happened so soon."
"Well, I think that we all just need to calm down and take it easy for a while."
"You're right."
"Emalia, you coming with me to pick up the pizzas?"
"Yeah, sure," Emalia said. Kevin and Emalia walked out to the car.
When Emalia and Kevin got back, they walked in and set the pizzas down on the kitchen table.
"Any chance that Nick or Cassie came out while we were gone?" Kevin asked hopefully.
"Nope," Nicole said.
"It's about time!" Jonathan said running into the kitchen.
"Chill, Jonathan!" Kevin said. "I'm going to go see about Cassie and Nick." They all nodded, and Coreene pulled down some plates from the cabinet.
Kevin walked up the stairs and gently tapped on the door. "Guys?" He didn't get a response. He opened the door and walked in. He saw Nick holding Cassandra as she read a book.
"Um, hi Kevin," Cassandra said ever so softly, looking up from her book.
"We got a pizza if you guys want to come down," Kevin started.
"I'm not hungry," Nick interrupted. "Cassie?" She only shook her head and brought her attention back to her book, and began to read again. "Thanks anyway, Kevin." Nick weakly smiled as Kevin left and quietly shut the door.
"Where's Cass? And Nick?" Coreene asked as Kevin came into the kitchen.
"They said they weren't hungry," Kevin replied.
"So-"
"They're not coming down." Coreene let out a sigh, and so did everyone else.
**Four days later**
Nick stood up from the bed and stretched. He looked over at the clock and saw that it was one thirty in the afternoon. Cassandra turned over and looked at him.
"You hungry at all?" he asked her.
"No," she said. She looked very pale, she had dark circles under her eyes, and looked tired. She rolled back over and closed her eyes. Nick walked out of the room and slowly started down the stairs.
"Nick!" Coreene said. "Where's Cassie?"
"She's still upstairs," Nick replied. Kevin walked into the room.
"Nick!" said Kevin. "It's been four days! You look awful. You look like you've lost twenty pounds.
"I feel like it," said Nick. "Hey, do we have anything light to eat? I need to get Cassie to eat something."
"What about you?" Coreene asked.
"I'll just grab some water."
"How about some crackers?" Kevin offered.
"Okay," Nick agreed. Nick sat down at the counter and Kevin went and grabbed a package of saltine crackers.
"Eat one," Coreene ordered.
"Will you get me a glass of water?" Nick asked. Coreene nodded her head. She got him a glass of water and put it in front of him. She took a cracker and shoved it into his mouth. "Gee thanks."
"Anytime!" Coreene said smiling, but he didn't smile back.
"I'm going back upstairs," Nick said grabbing his glass of water and four crackers. He walked back upstairs and into Cassandra's room.
"He does not look good," Coreene said to Kevin.
"Yeah. I can only imagine what Cassandra looks like," said Kevin and Coreene nodded her head.
Nick walked into the room and quietly shut the door. Cassandra slowly sat up against the headboard of the bed. He sat down on the bed.
"Here," Nick said handing her two of the crackers. She shook her head and stood up and went in front of her mirror. She put the crackers down on her dresser.
"I'm not hungry," she said pulling her hair back.
"Cassie, please eat something," he begged. "You look so thin."
"So do you!"
"You haven't eaten in four days!"
"Neither have you!"
"Okay then, look! I'm eating!" he said and ate one of the crackers. "Come on, for me?"
"Fine, you know that I would for you." She gave up, and ate one of the crackers.
Nicole and Emalia sat in the living room when Coreene and Kevin walked in from the kitchen.
"Hey, what's up?" Emalia asked them.
"Well," started Kevin, "Nick just came down-"
"He did?" Emalia interrupted. "Where is he? How is he? Where's Cassie?"
"Emalia! Chill!" said Coreene. "He only came downstairs to try to find something light for Cassandra to eat. He's really worried about her."
"That's so sweet."
"Yeah, but," said Kevin, "we're really worried about him. He's lost at least twenty pounds, and all he took was a glass of water and couple of crackers." Nicole had heard enough. She stood up and started off towards the stairs.
"Where are you going?" Coreene asked her.
"I'm going up there to drag their asses out of her room!" Kevin grabbed her arm and whipped her around. "What?"
"No, you can't do that!" Kevin said.
"Do what?"
"You can't go up there right now. They need time alone to sort things out."
"Oh I get it!"
"Good."
"Yeah. You don't want me to walk in on them doing it-"
"Nicole!" Coreene interrupted. "Knock it off! What had been up with you the past couple of days?"
Nicole paused for a minute, then let out a sigh. "I'm sorry, you're right," said Nicole. "I don't know what's wrong with me lately."
"What's that book that you're reading?" Nick asked Cassandra as he held her again. She turned it over and showed him the cover.
"Green Grass Of Wyoming. This is the sixth timeI've read it."
"Why are you reading it again if you've already read it five times before?"
"Because it always makes me feel better. Every time I've read it, I've just always loved it."
"Oh, what's it about?"
"A lot of stuff."
"Oh," he said. She closed the book, leaned across him and put the book down on her nightstand.
"I'm real tired."
"Me too." He turned off the light on the nightstand. They both closed their eyes and buried each other underneath the covers.
**Three days later**
"You guys, this is day seven," said Kevin. "They've been up there for a week!"
"Yeah, I'm worried about them," said Emalia.
"That's it. I'm going up there." Kevin got up from the couch and went upstairs. Before he could knock on the door, the door opened. "Cassandra, Nick."
"Hey Kevin," Cassandra said feebly, and the three of them walked downstairs. They stood up when they saw Nick and Cassandra. Their pale, solemn faces that looked so thin, their red eyes and tear stained cheeks, their knotted hair and wrinkled clothes.
"You're alive-" Coreene started.
"No, don't touch me," said Cassandra. "Just no one touch me. And don't try to cheer me up." They all sat down again, on the couches. None of them knowing what to say. Nick put his arm around Cassandra and she leaned down on his chest and wrapped her arms around his neck.
"Are you guys hungry?" Jonathan asked. "You haven't eaten in seven days!" They both shook their heads.
"So," said Kevin. "How about, like old times we have a cookout?"
"No," Cassandra said quickly.
"Why not?" asked Jonathan.
"Because you have to light the grill on fire," replied Cassandra.
"Oh," said Jonathan. Cassandra closed her eyes and Nick put his hand on her head.
"Well, then how about we-" started Kevin, but he stopped when he saw Nick give him a look and shake his head.
Later that afternoon, Brian and Mercedes walked in the door.
"Cassandra, and Nick! Hey guys," Brian said walking down into the living room. "We missed you guys at the party! What were you guys doing? Or do I want to know?"
"We almost died in a fire," Cassandra responded.
"We didn't get a chance to tell you guys that Mercedes and Brian were coming over today," said Kevin. "I hope you guys don't mind."
"No," said Nick. "Why would we mind?"
"A fire?" Brian asked. "Would that explain the interrogation that I got outside?"
"Yeah," said Cassandra. "But he's a good guy."
"Is everything alright in here?" Agent Johnson asked walking into the house.
"Yes Mr. Johnson," said Cassandra, "everything is fine-"
"Why didn't you tell me that two of my best friends almost died in a fire?" Brian interrupted.
"I'm sorry, Sir, but that was classified information-"
"Classified my ass!"
"Brian, calm down," said Mercedes. "It isn't any of our business."
"Of course it's our business! I would have thought that you of all people, Mercedes, would be the first one to be asking questions!"
"Brian, that's enough!" Mercedes said. "I don't want to know. I'm sure that when they're ready to talk, they will."
"But-"
"Brian, let it go."
"Now, I'm sorry to do this to all of you..." started Agent Johnson.
"But?" Brian asked.
"But everyone, except of course, Nick and Cassandra, are suspects in the fire and attempted murder."
"Attempted murder?" Nick asked wide eyed.
"Yes. This wasn't just any fire, there was intent to kill here."
"Oh God," Cassandra whispered.
"Who would want to kill us?" Nick asked.
"That's what we're trying to figure out."
"Well how do you know that they didn't plan this?" Mercedes asked.
"Mercedes?" Brian asked. "What are you talking about?"
"I mean Nick and Cassandra, attempted murder? No one would want to kill them. It was awfully convenient that a fire was set like that-"
"Mercedes I don't know what's wrong with you!" Brian started. "We should go home."
"Before you two leave, we need all of you to write up where you were the night of the fire, and what you were doing."
"This is ridiculous!" said Mercedes.
"We need a written statement from all of you. It's just a legal procedure. We're not accusing anybody."
"Well I'm not writing one!" Mercedes said. "Brian, I'll be out in the car." With that, Mercedes stormed out of the house and ran into Brian's car.
"Was there anyone else there with you that night?"
"Yeah. Angel and Howie."
"Well, we'll get a hold of them later. For now, here you go." Agent Johnson handed them all paper and pens. Nick and Cassandra didn't want to sit there anymore, so they went upstairs.
"What's up with Mercedes?" Nick asked.
"I think she did it," Cassandra said certainly.
"What are you talking about?"
"I think she did it. She tried to kill us."
"I don't think so Cassandra."
"I do! Didn't you see her downstairs? Refusing to write up a stupid alibi, telling Brian to knock it off and that it wasn't any of their business-"
"Yeah but that doesn't prove anything."
"Maybe not, but then what else could explain her behavior? When we're ready to talk we will? I love Brian to death, and I want him to know. He's my best friend, and yours, too, but so is Mercedes, and it just confuses me."
"I know, me too."
Later that night, Cassandra woke up to a knock at her door. She looked over at the clock and saw that it was only five thirty.
"Come in," she said and sat up. Brian walked into her room and closed the door.
"Hey girl!" Brian said. Cassandra smiled.
"Hey," she said weakly. "Where's your other half?"
"She didn't want to come back. She just left for her parents' and said that she didn't know when she was coming back. Where's your other half?" Brian asked pointing to a pair of feet sticking out the end of the bed.
"Oh, he's suffocating under the covers," said Cassandra. "I guess that we fell asleep." She pulled back the covers. "Nick, Sweetie, wake up!"
"No!" he groaned, rolling over and burying his face in her stomach. Brian sat down on the other bed and laughed at his whiny friend. Cassandra looked down at Nick, and knew she wouldn't win this fight, so she turned back to Brian.
"So she just left? Just like that?"
"Yup. She just wanted to get away for awhile. She took Charity with her, though," Brian replied.
"Oh."
"Will you wake him up already?" Brian complained, smiling.
"I'm not moving," Nick grumbled. "I'm comfortable."
"Oh yes," said Cassandra, "real comfortable. Buried in my stomach."
"Well we're all going to take you guys out to dinner," Brian said.
"Sure, I'd love to go, but I don't know about this one," she said pointing down to Nick.
"All right, all right, I can take a hint," Nick said rolling over.
"Yeah it just takes you a while!" Brian said laughing.
"Very funny, I'm up!" Nick said rubbing his eyes.
"Well we'll leave as soon as you two get dressed."
"Is it formal?" Cassandra asked.
"No, just semiformal. You know, you can wear jeans," Brian said.
"Okay then," said Cassandra. "We'll be right down." Brian smiled and walked out of the room. Cassandra stood up and walked into her closet to try to find something to wear, while Nick pulled the covers back up over his head and tried to go back to sleep. "What should I wear?" she asked herself out loud. "Nick, get up!" She went over to the bed, and tore the cover off of him and threw it in a pile onto the floor.
"What?" he whined.
"Stop whining. Here," she said and threw at him a pair of his jeans and a deep, purple button down shirt. "Get up, and get dressed." She walked back into her closet, and he threw on the jeans and the shirt. He walked into her closet. "What should I wear?" she asked him. He looked around in her closet as she buttoned up his shirt.
"This....." he said pointing to a light blue, short skirt, "and, this-" he said pointing to a tight, off-white tank top.
"Good choice. I'll be right out," she said. He pouted. "Oh get over it."
He turned around and walked out. "I'll be downstairs. Should I tell them that you have yet to do your hair and make up?"
"Shut up. You can stay. But I'll still be right out."
He sat down on her bed and waited until she emerged from her closet. The skirt that had once fit her well, was now practically falling off from the lack of eating. And the jeans that had fit him well were, too, falling off more than usual, she noticed. She pulled up her stool to her mirror and sat down. "Since you seem to be in such a rush, will you help me get ready?"
"Why? What do you possibly need to do?"
"Here," she said and handed him a brush and a tan scrunchie. "Will you put my hair in a pony tail?"
"Sure," he said, and began to brush her hair. She quickly put on light brown eye shadow, and pale pink lip gloss.
"Thank you," she said to him standing up. She pulled the scrunchie tighter and sprayed her hair with hair spray, just a little. "You know what?"
"What?"
"Maybe Austin did it."
"You aren't starting on this again-"
"No, no, just think about it. He's hated me ever since he thought that I ruined his and Isabella's wedding-"
"But you did."
"But it was the right decision and you know it."
"But I thought Mercedes did it?" Nick asked confused.
"She's still a major suspect right now, I don't know why but she just is. There's also Austin. He doesn't even have a reliable alibi for that night-"
"Cassie, will you do me a favor?" he interrupted.
"Anything."
"Tonight, can we just put everything aside? We haven't been out or eaten in eight days and it's catching up on us, and you know it. I can't do this anymore."
"You're right. Let's go," she said. They weakly smiled at each other, still hung over from their lack of nutrition. They walked out of the room and downstairs.
"Ready?" Brian asked. Jonathan, Nicole, Emalia, Kevin, Coreene, Devon, and Austin all stood there.
"Coreene, you're home-" started Cassandra but she was interrupted by the phone. Emalia went over to answer it.
"Brian, it's for you," Emalia said. Brian looked confused and took the phone.
"Hello?" he said.
"Hey Sweetie."
"You guys," Brian said. "It's Mercedes. I'm gonna take this, if that's okay?" They all nodded their heads. Brian took the phone and went upstairs to Cassandra's room. They all went into the living room, except for Nick. He went up to the kitchen to get a glass of water. He sat down at the kitchen table, and slowly sipped the water. He didn't feel good.
Austin looked up at Nick in the kitchen.
"Hey guys?" Austin asked. "I forgot something in my car. I'll, uh, be right back."
"Whatever," Cassandra said. Austin bit his lip and ran outside.
About five minutes later, Cassandra was on her way up to her room to get her purse, when she heard Nick coughing violently in the kitchen. She only thought that he must have swallowed something down the wrong pipe, but when his coughing persisted she got a little worried.
"Nick?" she called. She only heard coughing. She ran into the kitchen and found Nick on the floor clutching his throat. "Nick!" She ran over to him and helped him up off of the floor and back into the chair.
When he took his hands away from his throat, she gasped. "Nick, what happened? What's that red ring around your neck?" He stopped coughing a little, and tried to explain. Just then, Mercedes and Austin walked into the kitchen.
"What happened?" Austin asked trying to sound concerned.
"I dunno!" said Cassandra, and she pleadingly looked at Nick. "Sweetie, what's wrong?"
"Well, I was just sitting here, when all of a sudden, I felt something wrap around my neck, and start choking me," Nick explained.
"Oh, are you sure?" Mercedes asked.
"I've got the mark don't I?" Nick said louder.
"Oh Honey, are you okay?" Cassandra asked, just as Agent Johnson came running into the kitchen.
"What happened?" he asked.
"Someone tried to choke my husband," Cassandra said looking over at Mercedes and Austin for a brief second. "Look at the mark on his neck." Cassandra walked over to Mercedes. "I thought you were at your parent's house?"
"Well, as soon as I left I decided that I didn't want to go. So that phone call that Brian got from me a couple of minutes ago, was from my cell phone."
"Oh," said Cassandra. She walked back over to Nick. "Do you still want to go tonight?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. Let's get going," Nick said and stood up. Cassandra put her arm around his waist to steady him, and they all walked out to the car, no one saying a word to anyone.
"Damn it," Cassandra thought to herself. "How convenient that Mercedes just decides to show up right after Nick gets choked? And what about Austin?" Cassandra stopped thinking when they pulled up to the restaurant.
They all went in and got their table, actually they put three tables together. They were all sitting and talking for awhile, when Nick heard his and Cassandra's song being played. He leaned over to her.
"May I have this dance?"
"Nick, there isn't a dance floor," Cassandra said.
"So?" He stood up and pulled her out of her chair. They both pushed their chairs in and he put his arms around her. They danced right next to the table. Cassandra saw Mercedes and Austin frequently staring at her, so she closed her eyes and held Nick tighter.
When their song was over, they sat back down, no one saying a word to them, but they were all smiling at them. Their food came, and they started eating.
Nick looked over at Cassandra and noticed that she was staring fiercely at Austin. "Cassandra-" Nick whispered to her to try and get her to stop staring, but it didn't work. She just kept staring at him, with daggers coming out of her eyes.
"What?" Austin finally said.
"You know," Cassandra said.
"You want a confession out of me, don't you?"
"It may help."
"Fine, you got it." Austin put both of his hands on the table and raised his voice. "I did it. I did it all. You were supposed to die in that fire, you bitch. You ruined my life! You took my son away from me, and now he's dead, and you took my wife away from me and now she's dead! I tried to take your husband away from you tonight so you could know what it feels like, but you're such a prick that you have to be hanging around him every single, God damned second! I didn't get a chance to kill him!"
"So you were the one that tried to choke him and kill us," said Cassandra calmly. Everyone stared at her, surprised at how calm she was. They all kept looking back from Cassandra to Austin.
"Of course! And if that stupid neighbor hadn't gotten pissed off about the smoke alarms going off and had to check on it, you two would be dead right now, like you should be! That's all that you two deserve!" Agent Johnson and another officer came up behind and grabbed Austin, and pulled him out of his chair.
"I'll see you in court," Cassandra said to Austin with her teeth clenched. They took Austin out of the restaurant, and as soon as he was out of sight, Cassandra let out a huge sigh and her head fell to Nick's shoulder. "Great," she mumbled.
"Cassie, I guess that you were partially right," Nick said to her.
"Partially?"
"Yeah, Austin did do it all. But Mercedes didn't."
"What?" Mercedes said hearing her name.
"Yeah," said Cassandra. "Mercedes, I am so sorry that I ever could have suspected you in this whole thing. It's just that day when you freaked out-"
"I understand Cassandra. But I didn't want him to push you into telling your story, because I know how you can get when you don't want to talk!" They all laughed.
"Gee, thanks!" Cassandra said sarcastically. Just then, Agent Johnson walked up to the table.
"May I please speak with you two for a second?" The group nodded to them.
"Excuse us," said Cassandra and the Agent escorted them outside.
When they got outside, Cassandra and Nick sat down on a bench and the Agent stood in front of them.
"Cassandra, we have set a court date for the day after tomorrow. Is that all right?" Cassandra nodded her head.
"What is he being charged for?" Nick asked.
"Two counts of attempted murder." Both Nick and Cassandra took a deep breath and stood up.
"Thank you very much, Mr. Johnson," Cassandra said.
"I'll see you two days," he said. Nick and Cassandra nodded, and went back inside the restaurant.
