Surprise
On the morning of her seventeenth birthday, Buffy has a dream that Drusilla is still alive and that she will kill Angel. This worries Buffy and the Slayerettes, but does not deter the latter from planning a surprise party for Buffy at the Bronze the following night. Meanwhile, a wheelchair-bound Spike and a restored Drusilla are planning to reconstruct the Judge, a creature whose purpose is to literally burn the humanity out of humankind, leaving only the evil to survive. Though it cannot be killed "by any weapon forged", it was once dismembered, the parts spread to the four corners of the Earth-but now being brought to Sunnydale. Buffy intercepts the delivery of an arm, and Jenny and Angel agree that Angel should take it somewhere far away-a journey that would take months. Buffy is reluctant to part with Angel, but as they kiss and say good-bye at the docks, right after Angel gives Buffy a claddagh ring, vampires attack and retake the arm. Angel and Buffy brave the factory to try and stop them, but the Judge is already assembeled, and the pair barely escape with their lives. They return to Angel's apartment and find refuge in each others' arma, making love for the first time. But afterward, Angel feels strange as he wakes up, screaming her name while outside.
Angel finally comes out and says he loves Buffy, though his feelings have been obvious since "Teacher's Pet". Before his planned departure, he gives Buffy a claddagh ring, which is as close to a wedding as these two are likely to get. After their abortive attack on Spike, Drusilla, and the Judge, they finally give in to their passion-with, as shown in "Innocence", devastating consequences. Buffy convinces Willow to start dating Oz. The pair agree to go on a date in an adorable and hilarious scene. Xander makes an attempt to convince Cordelia to make their relationship public, but Cordy will hear none of it. Jenny Calendar is revealed to be Janna of the Romany tribe that cursed Angel eighty years previous(Becoming, Part1), and she is warned by her uncle that Angel is becoming too happy. Buffy once again has prophetic dreams, and Oz finds out the truth about vampires and joins the Slayerettes.
