Quick Notes

From Tyler: ttyler@utdallas.edu My amazing students! I won't be here next Thursday. This does not mean you can skip class. Kathryn Klaene will be guest lecturing, on uses of lighting. She teaches two sections of Texturing and Lighting here at UTD. She worked at DNA as a lighter and compositor. She is very talented and knowledgeable. I expect you will show her the utmost respect. Please read the following tutorial before class. It explains how doom3 uses lights. Kathryn will expect that you have read it, and will teach accordingly. I will give specific examples in class when i get back. [quake3bits tutorial] If any of you are having difficulties with any of the information, please schedule an appointment with me as soon as possible. The information we are learning right now in the doom engine is critical for the rest of the semester. It seems rushed now, but the amount of information will slow down. Of course, as the amount of information goes down, the amount of creative work goes up. :D. But seriously, i can't help you if you don't tell me you need help. Don't forget also that the video tutorials I mentioned in class are located at \\atec01\networkusers\ttyler\Public\Virtual Environments\tutorials The tool for Photoshop to create the bump maps, along with the codecs to watch the tutorials are located here \\atec01\networkusers\ttyler\Public\Virtual Environments\tools Good luck!
