Surealm-ism Ref Paper #01

Towards a Minimalist

Phylogeny/History/Well-ordering

We start with the blank gallery space which must exist in some form if "only" as a virtual space: Onto that we place a blank canvas. Note that this could "merely" be for the purposes of testing the lighting of the space, and maybe for no other reason that we might just "want to see how it looks". From this point on, we take as read "the gallery wall", etc.
So, our first thought is to put a single dot on the blank canvas like this: And we of course see this abstraction in the famous painting by Kazimir Malevich:

Brief note on representation of this web page, etc

Naturally, there is a problem with displaying *any* image on the web (or on a web page, or describing it using the ALT key-word for the IMG tag in HTML for the blind, or a text discussion, a sound fx presentation, etc)... START AGAIN (but briefly) I shall simply take it as read that "when i get a chance", i'll convert this to JAWS (seeing-impared web reader thingie) compatible. Funding? I would v. much enjoy working with any intern (old or younge) on this project. The problem is how to present these minimalist things without destroying the space onto which they are put (which always happens even in the most carefull of installations), and also (and more importantly) to display the what-ness properly. Thus, i simply give the following as a purely visual discussion of the problem (or at the very least a purely visual presentation of the problem (or at .... etc): Of course as with almost every instalation (except of Eva Hesse's, etc) we as installers simply want the gallery walls to disappear and the installation physicallity to be non-existent/ignorable. ALSO NOTE: In order to save space, i shall use GIF formats for the images (except for the one above) which of course will reduce the image quality. These are avail in JPG or BMP format upon request. email: fleeding@hotmail.com (we appolgise for the inconvenience) {
