Weston Middle School Drama Club presents The Lottery as Spring One-Act Play and entry in Mass. MS Drama Festival.

PRODUCTION DATES: April 30 at 3:00 and 7:30 pm
Saturday, May 1 at the Mass. MS Drama Festival

The CAST LIST is currently posted under CURRENT PRODUCTION.

The Lottery is based on the short story by Shirley Jackson, and adapted by Brainerd Duffield. Published originally in the New Yorker magazine, it produced an unprecedented reaction, and this dramatization captures the story that has become an internationally known classic. Like the story, the play starts as people are assembling for the lottery. What family will it be this time? Which member? Only gradually do we begin to suspect the nature of the lottery as the play builds swiftly to its crucial and moving climax. The tension and thrill of the play are built into its very structure.

Weston Middle School Drama Club presents The Wiz as Winter Musical.

February 4 at 7 pm, February 5 at 3 pm, and February 6 at 2 pm and 7 pm, 2010

The Wiz is a musical by Charlie Smalls, later adapted by William F. Brown as a book. It is a retelling of L. Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz in the context of African American culture.

While similar in plot to “The Wizard of Oz”, The Wiz transforms the traditional show into a more fun, funky modern version. Dorothy, the little girl from Kansas is blown by a tornado into Munchkinland in the Land Of Oz. While there she meets the Scarecrow, the Tinman & the Cowardly Lion on the Yellow Brick Road. She defeats the evil witch and goes to see the powerful Wizard who turns out to be a phoney. However, he is able to convince Dorothy that she can do anything she wants if she just believes in herself. Dorothy also realizes the importance of home and her family.

Set in the 1930s, EPIC PROPORTIONS, by Larry Coen and David Crane, tells the story of two brothers, Benny and Phil, who go to the Arizona desert to be extras in the huge Biblical epic Exeunt Omnes. Things move very quickly in this riotous comedy and before you know it, Phil is directing the movie, and Benny is starring in it. To complicate matters further they both fall in love with Louise, the assistant director in charge of the extras. Along the way there are gladiator battles, the Ten Plagues and a cast of thousands.
