The Acolytes comes from the ancient
tradition of the church of having "armed guards" for clergy
duringt the early days of the Church! The office developed into minor
Holy Orders but today refers to those servers who assist the priest
in public worship by leading processions, carrying torches, lighting
candles and serving at the Holy Table. It is a ministry for both the
adults and youth of the parish.
