Painting #49

"Low Tide at Wells"

This painting was done in one two hour sitting on January 21, 2005. It was actually to be another scene, that of a window with curtains and a girl sewing. I attempted that but it just wasn't working so I gradually wiped paint with a soft cloth until there was a faint sienna color over the black canvas. That's when it dawned upon me that the color resembled a night sky that my wife and I saw while walking the beach one night at Wells, Maine. From there, the painting progressed quickly and with ease. "Low Tide at Wells" is in the collection of good friends, Frank and Birgit Bozek, residents of Herndon Virginia.
