what's it mean to "waste the lure"?
ps

alright, i'm gonna go through this stanza by stanza, but first, why and how i came to write it:

well, one night, i was talking about guy troubles with a friend of mine. we found that we both had experiences where we would be interested in a guy and find out that he was already taken. it's happened to me recently twice. well, that was my problem and in math class, i thought of the trigger line "wasting the lure". i'll just dive into the interpretation now.
why am i wasting the lure?
waiting for someone to step in
dandelions drinking passion
leaving jasmine with nothing

wasting the lure is basically flirting with someone until you find out he (this song could also apply to females) is already taken. all that good flirting... wasted, so you wait for someone else to come along. dandelions (weeds) are the guys that already have a girlfriend or they're just not your type. jasmine (my favorite flower) is me. i've wasted so much energy chasing these guys that i feel drained and empty.

i hope to fall
when vines arrive
i suffocate
on unspoken lies

oh boy, this one is about the guys that are not my type. vines represent their arms. you see, i don't like them, but they want to be affectionate towards me and i'd rather not express my dislike for them because i don't want to hurt anyone's feelings. so you see, by not speaking, i suffocate on these lies that i don't say aloud. it's bad.

i do not need
to hold your hand
but it's what i need
to understand

so there's this guy that i like... and i know that i don't need a boyfriend to make me happy, but i really want one and i want to understand what drives me to search for one, even if it leads me to the wrong one each time.

so there... i'm done...
