6th Grade Humanities Units- Prehistoric Man-Cave Man and Ice Age, Egyptians, Mayans, Romans, Greeks
Projects: Cave Art, Mayan Masks, Mummy Cases, King Tut Scratch Art, Egyptian Writing, Roman Mosaic Tiles, Greek Vases
You may build either an egyptian or mayan pyramid for your home project(project details are sent home in November)
7th Grade Humanities Units- Middle Ages Theater Unit Renaissance
Projects: Knight Pointilism, Modern day Mona Lisa, Medieval Shields and weapons, Medieval Festival, Stained Glass Art, Renaissance Masks
7th grade home project is to build Medieval Castle, Medieval Cathedral or Globe Theater project
8th Grade Humanities Units- Chicago History Ilinois History Illinois Native Americans 1800's 1900's
Projects: Study of Chicago and American History-Stories to Read and a Chicago Landmark architecture project. Study of the 1900 decades. A study is also done on immagration at the turn of the 19th century. Both of the Chicago World's fairs are studied as well. Projects on immigration and Ilinois Native Americans.
8th grade home project is to build a Chicago Landmark Building or a Native American Wigwam
We will be studying the architecture of the homes in each unit as well as art, music, history and way of life for people during each time period. The class incorporates projects and activities to enhance other subjects in the school and bring culture to our students.
