A wonderful Japanese bronze elephant with genuine antique ivory tusks with outstanding detail. Most likely dates to the Meiji period and signed on the belly. Beautiful posture with a raised trunk, the detail on the skin is simply marvelous, nice feet and eyes. Nicely patinated.
7.5" high to tip of trunk, 5.5" high to top of head; 7.7" long, a nice and versatile size. No dings or scratches, great patina, tusks not cracked or broken. This is a beauty! Nice age, Meiji arts & crafts are gaining rapidly in value. Don't miss it!
