I really must thank you all so much for your interest in The Forgers Guild first attempt at facsimile fake forgeries. I was truly amazed at the number of requests and good wishes I received in the short time before my posting was removed from the message boards. Almost everybody who contacted the Baron appreciated what I was trying to achieve and saw the Discworld-esque humour in my efforts.
Unfortunately We have received a clacks at the Guild from Bernard Pearson which is quite clearly a "cease and desist" death threat. I reproduce here the exact text from the transmission:
Hi
Just reading your thread,
I'm told you sent me some, unfortunately they have not arrived.
However, I must warn you, you are breaking all sorts of copyright, not
least Terry Pratchett's, this could prove a costly joke.
I don't want to stop any 'fan activity' but what you are doing could
create a real problem, for me, for collectors, and ultimately for you.
We work very hard to maintain our reputation and our licence from Terry,
please don't jeopardise that.
regards

I did send a full sheet of the forged stamps to Bernard on Wednesday, 17 August 2005, along with extensive documentation and further storyline. The documentation contained my full roundworld address and a telephone number that I could be contacted on at any time of the day or night. Unfortunately the British postal system seems to have eaten the lot!!?
It was never my intention to promote this project as a commercial venture in any respect and I had no thought of profit from the enterprise, in fact the whole project would have been run at a financial loss to me.... it was just my over-active imagination having a bit of fun and The Guild of Forgers in no way wants to be perceived as a threat to Bernard's business ventures. The hope was that we could raise a few pounds for some very deserving children's charities.......!
Regardless of my disappointment, We must respect Bernard's wishes totally in this matter and therefore the Baron is unable to supply the forgeries you have requested until such time as Bernard may reconsider his decision and no sample fake stamps will now be sent out.
For a glimpse of what you will now not be receiving, please see below. I shall use them as my own personal use cinderellas.......
Once again, many thanks to all for your interest and all of us at The Guild of Forgers and Counterfeiters apologise for any inconvenience caused ~ All your email addresses have been kept on record and I am sure you have not heard the last of Baron Blanco and the Guild..... Watch the post ;^)
