    Eve is Sanosuke's succubus vampire girlfriend. Her succubus mother, Kioko, murdered her vampire father's, Tomomi, human lover, Harumi. So Tomomi married Kioko to keep from having her under go the death penalty for her crime. At first, Kioko was unhappy because her freedom was taken from her. But after she gave birth to a daughter, Kioko grew to love her husband. Eva was once a slave under Ryoko. But Kane freed her because he saw potential strength in her and her love for Sano. While under slavery, Eva fell in love with Sanosuke. But she later found out she had to kill him. She tried to carry out her job but her heart wouldn't let her. Once freed, Eva went to Sanosuke. At first, rooster-head didn't want her, but after her parents died, Sano took pity on her and fell in love with her. Eva is growing stronger from the death of her parents now that she knows she's on her own. She has sworn to fight along Sanosuke's side. Sano sometimes feeds Eva his own blood when she is in her vampire form. Because of her succubus vampire mix, Eva is blind during the day and has perfect vision during the night. Sanosuke and Eva are trying to be together legally in the living realm.

    Once a proud member of a resistance group against the Royalists, he has forever hated Royalist members since the death of his best friend and father figure. Growing up as a bum always getting into fist fights, he finds Kenshin and challenges him. Soon afterwards, he realizes that Kenshin's motives are for bettering everyone's lives and he agrees to hang around constantly nagging at Kaoru and messing with Yahiko.

    Later, a sort of love hate romance grows between himself and Megumi, though he also seems to fall in love with a woman named Magdalia also known as Sayo (Christian Arc), though she sadly dies later in the series. He calls Megumi "Kitsune" which means "fox" and often hangs around for a free meal and to help out Megumi at her doctor's office.
