SAUL D. ORIHUELA'S BIO/RESUME

This will be an informal biography/resume about my self. Like a true artist, I have been drawing and painting as long as I can remember. I came from Cuba when I was three years old. During my early school years I drew everything, cars, people you name it. I also entered many contests. A big deal then, today, just a memory.

I later went on to college where I of course continued to hone my skills. At twenty-one, I joined the military. During my military stint I was stationed in countries such as Germany, the Republic of South Korea and Hiati (which I severed under The United Nations). During this time, I also continued to harness my craft at the University of Maryland and with projects I made for the Armed Forces.

I decided in 1996 to leave my military career to help my child hood/long life friend and the greatest inker I know, Allen Lee Atencio pursue his life long dream of making a comic book. But this was not the only reason, as I too decided at the time to follow my dreams as well to make my living as an Artist (I did not want to go through life thinking ‘what if?’).

During this time I was also in the National Guard which sent me to one of the hardest schools to be selected for (not for physical or combat reasons but for the nature of the school) 'The Defense Information School' in which I studied Multi Media. I was placed as the class leader (for which I later received an award) and project manager (for graduation we had to put a project together that consisted of everything we had learned over the months). As well as learning all this cool new software, Photoshop, Illustrator, PageMaker, Poser, Pixels3D, Flash, QuarkXpress and to include HTML tagging (this entire site was HTML tagged by hand. No DreamWeaver here) and Website building.

I have worked as an AOL technician, a circuit board inspector, QuarkXpress technician, silk screener, sign painter, airbrush artist, freelance artist, and comic book colorist.

At present I work for a reprographics company as a Preflight inspector and in the evenings/weekends I freelance, experiment with 3d textures, and I am learning how to use Zbrush and Maya.
