Which cake decorating items would you not buy all over again?

Well lets see... I had purchased a plastic ruler that also subs as a cake comb... I prefer the metal cake combs... Anything plastic I will not buy it just doesn't hold up... even the cake scissors that wilton makes I own them but I have had to replace them one too many times I now use metal scissors incase anyone is wondering what the scissors are used for they are to place roses on your cakes i.e. removing them from the rose nail... as for everything else I am happy with the array of decorating items I own always looking for more everyday! ~ Linda

I would not buy the licensed character pans. I have several and didn't know when I bought them it's illegal to sell cakes made with them. ~ Bitte

I agree...anything plastic is awful. I started dabbling in decorating with a cheap-o plastic set from Safeways. First of all, the bag was "super heavy" and very stiff, and the plastic tips just didn't do the trick. Once I tried metal...WOW what a noticeable difference, even to a beginner! My advice to anyone would be even get a disposable bag or two instead of committing to a $10 featherweight one, get a coupler and a few tips that are, like, $1.50 each. You still don't have a huge investment in case you don't like it, but you can do it right and not struggle with it.
I also have a plastic comb thingy, and have only experimented with it once. Maybe as I practise it will improve, but I would imagine a metal one of those, as well, would be the way to go. ~ Pam

I would definitely not buy the case with all of the different tips in it. u really don’t get to use quite a lot of them. ~ Geri

A waste of money it the Wilton tip covers, they don't fit. Also a waster for me was the cake leveler. I never use it since I discovered the bake even strips. On the rare times I do have to level a cake I just use a knife. ~ Sharyle
