Can you use different icings on a cake? If so, which ones? If not, which ones? And why?

It's colorflow and royal icing that breakdown on buttercream. You can put fondant on buttercream all day long! In fact, buttercream iced cakes make the best base for fondant covering. The glazes are nice but they show every little flaw in the cake under the fondant unless you make it really thick. I don't like the expense or texture/taste of using fondant that thick so I always opt for buttercream (smoothed perfectly with a paper towel!LOL) between my cakes and fondant. ~ Suzy
